SPYSHOTS: F25 BMW X3 LCI sighted – coming soon?

Well, looks like the BMW X4 isn’t the only car from Munich coming soon – reader Sean Leong sent us pictures of the new facelifted (or LCI in BMW-speak) F25 BMW X3 on home soil, indicating that a local introduction is imminent. The refreshed baby Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) was unveiled to the world exactly a month before its “coupe” sibling, so could BMW Malaysia be in fact planning a double launch?

The front has been reprofiled with new headlights (LED items are optional, but the car seen in these pictures doesn’t have them) that now flow into the bolder, more three-dimensional kidney grilles, as well as a new fascia. The remaining exterior changes include new wing mirror indicators, alloy wheel designs and rear bumper. New interior materials, switchgear and instruments make up the bulk of interior updates.

Over here, the current X3 is available in xDrive20i and xDrive20d guises (the latter gets a boost of 8 horsepower and 20 Nm to 190 hp and 400 Nm with the LCI), both locally assembled at RM323,800 and RM348,800 respectively. So, will this come in time to mount your newly-minted “BMW” number plates?

In the meantime, you can browse comprehensive technical specifications, equipment and prices of the current F25 BMW X3 on CarBase.my.

If you have owned a BMW you would know the prettiest part of a BMW lies in the driving experience.

You can be rest assured it’s launching soon alright. The car’s wearing the BMW Group Malaysia number plate holder which means it has already been prepped (as these cars come delivered without the holders and only BMW Group Malaysia uses the “Sheer Driving Pleasure” holders while dealers only have the dealer names on it).

I do hope they improve the quality on this one, and please, bring back the 28i with adaptive dampers.

No wonder I was getting messages from sales people on big discounts on the current X3.

If the diesel gets the new engine wouldn’t the petrol get the new B48 engines too?

Only the low-end diesel models get the new B47 engine; the rest of the range remains the same, meaning that the xDrive20i soldiers on with the older N20 mill.

Argh, so much news about BMW recently. Are there no other automakers that are this active?

That is because BMW is probably the most aggressive premium car maker on the market

I see BMW’s everywhere these days…especially the 316i. Guess BMW’s strategy to intro the base model worked out for them.

Now if they could improve on the spec sheet and warranty…
