Aiyoo this same lorr guy. Axia is not for poor ppl who are pemalas. I’m buying this one bcs I’m a fresh graduate and it’s my first car. And because Master’s fresh graduate’s salary is underpaid in Malaysia. You don’t talk like u nvr go to school eh. I nvr graduated if I was pemalas.

You only got toyota. My apak got Honda Accord & another Mazda 3 some more. Yet I’m struggling to buy me my own car w my own money. Watch ur words. Go to primary school again if needed too. They taught Sivik in school last time I heard.

In the 1st place Proton say will launch 1st quarter, then move to 2nd quarter, now 3rd qtr near to end.. only see fr lh headlamp as teaser. At least P2 on track. They say will launch in Sept and now releasing all necessary info to the customers..

          • Encik Leo,I’ve already bought a car. A Myvi SE 1.5. Although I’m looking forward for the GSC to ‘un-tarnish’ Proton’s image. Tak salah what tengok local product buat redemption.

I just nak bagitahu, make a relevant choice for price lah. Nampak murah tapi bila bump base price to Axia auto, dia punya price dah cecah over rm30k,which can reach Myvi and Saga base price.

Why not beli Myvi atau saga je terus. Myvi ok what? Jimat, besar dan selesa.

Besides,I’m impressed with Axia since dia letak 1.0cc engine for base model. Previous 660cc. And the boot also big,as per paper lah. 260liters.

Diorang ni pandai pulak nak banding price dengan B-segment.Kalau dah tahu memang nak beli A-segment car yang jimat minyak, janganlah banding dengan B-segment. Memanglah B-segment mahal.

            Malaysians memang ‘genius’.

You are trying to say Proton is not safe by listing cars that have been launched 20-30 years ago? Come on. So desperate?

We have to compare a car launched recently with another car launched recently, and in that sense, the Axia is pretty bad. ABS has been standard for how many years? 20? 30?

Why does only the SE get ABS, and not the G? They rather give alloy rims, radio and other useless junk than ABS.

Also, the only Axia that makes sense is the 25k one. Once you reach G spec/want auto, you might as well buy a Saga SV, which will be safer, much more practical, more proven (Axia just launched, could still have bugs), … the only disadvantage is fuel consumption. You’re paying A LOT for low fuel consumption…

Yes, you are right, Saga is proven, so does it build quality.

People buy saga because it has rear boot, not because it is safer, or more reliable. None of them will stick with Saga forever, I have so many Vios buyers previously Saga owners. Soooooo many!

The fuel price won’t be RM2.10 forever, when it reach RM3 in the future not far from now (maybe next month government rationalise subsidy), you will be so regretful of having Proton.

What the heck?? “Seat belt warning buzzer”

They even include a BUZZER as one of safety feature highlights. Never heard of any manufacturer considers it as one of the highlights.

A desperate move I’d say. Nampak sangat tak ada benda nak taruk untuk safety features. LOL.

    • Hmm.nope.2014 Picanto it is.10k difference over the highest spec you’ll get an EuroNCAP 4 star car (actually read somewhere Euro testing unit was not equipped with ESC hence not rated as 5..oh yes http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/kia/picanto).Kimchi is Kimchi, its Winter Sonata vs ..err..any Malaysian drama series.Haha.5 years unlimited warranty, 2 years free service, full spec.acceptable handling and the RV, won’t be as bad as Tiara (Tiara has very good suspension still.Only option for graduate during my time). But must say it is a good attempt by P2 to provide Malaysians with a car.Personally can’t stand to look at parents on motorbikes with 3 kids at the back clinging to each other! If im stupendously rich I will give this car to them.No family, especially no children should experience that. For that thank you P2.Traffic wise, abis la.Hahaha.

You talk like 10k is a small difference. Besides, spec for spec, you should compare it with Axia SE as Picanto doesn’t have leather seats or DVD unit, and that’s a 15k difference, and if you compare it to Picanto Auto, it’s a 20k difference. That’s a lot.

Mine does (well, 6 airbags). 12 year old car, bought for around RM 36k (1 year old when bought). I know, Malaysia is behind a bit, and 25k is really cheap, but what about the higher spec ones? Why are they still so empty? And it’s 2014…

Also since this is an EEV, isn’t it supposed to have less tax? So no need to talk about oh Malaysia got high tax.

For RM 34k (including 20% tax) you can overseas buy a Fiat Panda (James May’s car), new, very good reliability (the most reliable A segment car in Europe, together with the Toyota Aygo), 5.1l FC (combined), 69 hp 1.2 liter engine, 4 or 6 airbags, ABS.

Toyota Aygo: Similar specs as the Panda, 2k cheaper (outgoing model).

VW up!, also around 32-34k: 60 hp, 4.5 liter FC, 1 liter engine. ABS, BA, EBD, TC, ESP/ESC, 4 airbags (but the side airbags are side+curtain airbags in one, it seems). For 2k more you get the same engine but with added tech to reduce FC by another 0.4l.

Kia Picanto, 32k, ABS, EBD, BA, TC, ESP/ESC, 6 airbags, aircon, radio, seatbelt reminder on all 5 seats, 1 liter engine with 4.2 liter consumption and 69 hp.

No, these cars aren’t as cheap as the base spec Axia, but they cost about as much as the manual G spec car. Just with much more safety systems, and more refined.

On a related note: They all have very low FC, and very low FC + CKD = low tax now in Malaysia. Come on, VW, Kia, Fiat, Ford, Toyota, Citroen, … you’ve all got an Axia competitor with a very low FC, thus lower taxes. Do it.

Picanto Auto costs 60k, so it’s a 15k difference. Also, Picanto doesn’t have DVD unit or leather seats of Axia AV. Those things aren’t cheap.

15k isn’t a small difference, it’s night and day. I’m not saying Axia AV is good value, but neither is the Picanto. For 60k better get a Preve, much safer.

      – 660cc
      – 12 inch steel wheels with no cap
      – black bumper
      – black door handles
      – No vanity mirror anywhere
      – Manual window
      – A basic trip meter
      – Manual steering
      – No airbags

Apart from the 2 airbags, power steering and the better engine the improvements aren’t really that important. But yes, it’s better value for money.

But then again, the Viva at least was developed as a Daihatsu in Japan for sale in Japan… this thing was developed by the Indonesian branch of Daihatsu, for Indonesia and other countries like that, and I doubt it will ever be sold in Japan. Too demanding customers.

2 for base spec. For 25k that is rather nice. It’s depressing that ABS is missing though until you reach SE spec, which is much more expensive. And no ESP either. And not even the chance of more airbags, though I wonder if they make any difference. This car may not have a strong enough body anyway.

Well, at least that gives buyers the option to get the base spec car (as long as they can live with manual) and fit the accessories themselves for a fraction of the cost. Until the SE model they are not missing out on anything. And once you’ve reached SE you might as well buy something else that is bigger and safer.

260 liter boot is actually rather decent.

Also, driving schools should be using proper cars in order to teach their students proper driving ethics on the highway etc., and in order to not get students used to 80 km/h being very noisy and scary… because if they switch to another car they may just drive so fast until it’s noisy and scary, not noticing that they are driving 130…

The Saga SV seems to be a perfect driving school car for me. Powerful and refined enough, with some added challenge in parking. More likely to be what students will be driving once they have passed, and it’s always possible to adjust downwards to a less refined car without any danger.

It’s a viva.. And we all know how huge a viva is.. I dont think a front parking sensor is really necessary here.. But anyway, the specs seems right for the price you pay for it.. Imo, they should take away the electric side mirrors and replace it with ABS + EBD in the G variant.. But if I were to buy cars from this price range, the saga SV would still be my choice :)

Haha, actually quite common in Europe to be able to nearly double the price of a car with accessories. Though those accessory lists are then a bit more… advanced than a tissue box. You’ll be getting some self driving features, automatic everything, leather etc.

(In Germany Mercedes charges around RM 400 for cupholders. In the S class. CUPHOLDERS!)

While the base 25k spec looks pretty decent for the price, the rest of the range is a bit of a mess. The sweet spot for the range seems to be the SE, but again whatever hope that I had in P2 introducing ESC has been lost. Seriously, why give a bloody bodykit and a tissue box holder and even SEMI BUCKET SEATS on an A segment city car instead of giving ABS on at least the G range and ESC on the SE range.

Really they deserve a spade for being this oblivious. Seriously. A tissue box. Not sure if bodoh atau bangang ni. Tissue box put mahu letak kat spec list ke. Lain kali kau letak 4 pintu ngan enjin pun kat spec list ok.

They really deserve a spade. Get the Saga, heck for the similar price at least you get more metal for your money. And I am in disbelief, which is why I blurted that in BM. Yeah. The next Perodua, they’s also add glass windows, and rubber tyres too to the list. Yahoo Perodua.

Exactly…they are forcing you to pay RM20k extras for accessories when the real neccessity is just the ABS/EBD and two airbags. I believe 7k can cover the airbags and ABS/EBD. The rest are just to rip you off with tissue box holder and more junks you don’t want.

It’s a number and timing game. P2 knows its critical to launch before GSC, and to get a showroom puller via the cheapest variant. And most importantly to exploit the EEV status. They will succeed I am sure.

I don’t see how the baseline E is badly equipped. At that price the spec sheet looks decent, as back then all you could get was only a 660cc engine without body coloured bumpers, smaller wheels without caps even and no radio. The SE looks really good specs-wise, in fact. But the price though…

The E spec looks good. Above that though it becomes a joke. The added features are unnecessary (mostly), many can be added later at lower cost, and they drive the price into regions where there are better alternatives.

Erm. Overseas that’s normal. The joke is WHAT high spec means to Perodua.

For the VW up! (A segment, starting price around RM 34k, comes with stability control, 4/6 airbags (I believe the 2 side ones are combined), ABS) you can drive up the price quite a bit. But you’ll get keyless entry. Height adjustable driver seat. Air condition. Leather steering wheel. Split foldable rear seats (instead of one foldable bench), electric adjustable and heated mirrors, tinted glass, 16″ alloys instead of 14″ steel, safety specs no difference no matter if base or high spec, fog lights, charges battery when braking, start/stop automatic, built in hard drive (?), bordcomputer, sat nav with touchscreen and media system, sound system with 7 speakers and subwoofer, CD player with MP3, voice control, fake leather seats, heated seats, cruise control, radar to warn you and brake the car if you’re about to crash, parking sensors, sun roof and a Nokia 515 (costing RM 1000… what the hell is VW smoking?).

All this kit won’t increase the price as much as the high spec Axia does… which offers like, nothing in comparison.

My 2 cents. To sell the base model at 25K, P2 just upped the price of the rest of the range unfairly. They know the seller will still be the G auto spec which is a whopping 10K difference. Think of it as the buyers themselves subsidizing the low income bracket with P2 getting the name

Sure its missing a lot of stuff, but compared to the Base Viva 660, it has a bigger engine, a radio (!!), some powered gubbins, and looks better with wheel caps and painted bumpers. All for about the same price. We have a base Viva 660 in the family, and honestly, for short trips, I can’t really complain.

I agree with Zhafri. According to Perodua R&D staff, Perodua worried that Axia will be outsell Myvi hard (will affect Myvi sales) and that is why they put the price closer with Myvi. They are now rushing for sedan model (design completed by this end of year) and will phase out Myvi slowly. Do you ever see the Axia Car? (I Do) That car is definitely better than expected and it is selling good at Indonesia. Don’t just trying to be keyboard warrior and condemn without test drive the car. If you really interested, go to check the Perodua Showroom at 15 September 2014. Standard E is mainly focusing on the student & low income people (eg RM900 monthly single). At least they can own a brand new car instead of getting the second hand car. The parent will be less worried if their children own this car. Some people say Proton SV is worth to get, then just go ahead. Proton know saga will be selling good and keep improve saga accessories and lower the price but this will eventually kill its other model , look at the Proton sales figure , 50% is Proton saga and Preve & Suprima have poor sales. This all is marketing strategic , if the spec is too good and and price too good , who want to buy Myvi?

Lagi satu… utk 1.0E kena ada auto… diharap Perodua akan dengar cadangan dari 70% pelanggan yang mahu baseline dgn auto gear.

    Sekian, terima kash

As pak lah said maybe we have first class of everything but mental still 4 th class….even driving a merce still behave like a bully on the road. Do we have quality in the first place. ? All cinchai attitude and hypocrisy at the top of the world. … always self mirror first before condemned others. .. ha ha ha
If can afford buy and face it….relatively cheap cars will have cheap attitude ? Not so…. try to be.better humans.first…

Malaysia,The Land Of Perlindungan Tanpa Had
We have perlindungan from beras, cooking oil, gasoline, sugar to a host of other things. Some seemingly is good for without them we ,the poor rakyat have to fork out more,to survive.
However,we are sadly punished with perlindungan for P1 and P2.
For around 55k,we should be driving the Vios and City. For 46K,we should be cruising with the Almeira.
I cant blame Samelor for demonising Proton and Perodua fanboys, who are also victims of “perlindungan”.
    When is this perlindungan going to end?Even regime change may not be the answer.{look at selangor MB fiasco}

  • Malaysians expect taxes of cars drop. Not the price drops. If you make cheap cars but with reduction of specs, wats the point of making cars eventually? The first person who invented car was to make human’ lives better.

It’s so much better than the previous perodua viva, just the bad thing is the abs with ebd, but the interior and exterior are so much better! Why some people just like to criticize a RM25k-RM40k cheapest new car?

my kelisa already 10yrs old but still serving me like charm. i sold my previous wira after 3 yrs due to reason below:
    1) super underpowered – lousy engine but use the 16′ rim
    2) power window keep on ‘kong’ – really unacceptable, enough to open door to pay toll
    3) petrol consuming – i saved a lot in petrol after changed to kelisa
    4) good handling – you won’t believe kelisa handling is actually better where i feel more stable when make sharp corner

overall, i am big fan supporter to perodua over the crap proton. time to trade in my kelisa for his new successor AXIA!!!

Just came back from the launch of the axia … quite impressed especially with the basic model ! From my point of view I think the basic model looks much ‘ better ‘ . All in all I am satisfied with this car and can only hope that I won’t regret purchasing it !

Why lorr?? this car can’t Drive? all comment plenty ba.. ba.. don’t judge lazy work or hard work.. no poor or rich cause to owned our cars by our choices.. for me it’s to good enough, for third Cars.. and i am not hard workers and rich to.. toyota honda event bently also got 4 tyres and roads drives only, but can’t fly.. useless if condemned the makers only to satisfied ours needs.. satisfied on its class, 24k E class and safe petrol also that satisfied me enough for my third cars, pergi pasar, masuk site, lenjan utk kerja.. nak laju beli kereta laju, nak besar beli kereta besar.. tanak rosak harapkan perfection baik sendiri belajar automotif..tanak jam in town naik motor, hujan tukar balik kereta.. even old clubman also you can make comfort and powerfull. know our self in engineering, appreciate human made because human can’t perfect as god. heppy Raya All..

So far it is 1 month already and about 1500 Km since my daughter bought the Axia G Auto. The best consumption I got is 11.8 km/l. The worst 10.8 km/l for city driving. My driving is on Eco mode all the time. Please advise how to get 20 km/l as mentioned in your review.
