It has been a while since our last walk-around video – you can blame the long production process of our on-going Driven Web Series for that – but fret not, it’s back! This time round, we’re looking at the new Audi A3 Sedan, in both 1.4 TFSI and 1.8 TFSI quattro guises.
Since there are two cars here, we have our dear old Harvinder to help me out (pardon my fedora. It was, err… given to me. Yeah, that’s it). We take a close look at the new model’s exterior and interior, to see if they’re worth the asking prices – RM179,900 for the front-wheel drive 1.4 TFSI, and RM240,888 for the all-wheel drive 1.8 TFSI quattro variant.
The two models are quite different specs wise – especially inside – and this video details all the variances, including the optional extras available for each model.
You can refer to our comprehensive launch report for more information on the Audi A3 Sedan, and we’ll have a full in-depth review up next week. And yes, the car will go against the Mercedes-Benz CLA 200 and the BMW 316i in a future episode of Driven Web Series too.
Don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel, and thanks for watching!

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
S3 Sedan please…..
Dry clutch, seriously?
Nice one. If you are saying our Toyota sales would be affected by this sexy machines, I would expect it with respect and pleasure.
If say our Toyota sales would be affected by Proton because our Toyota can’t smoke chicken wing smoke turkey ham, my response is “hahahahaha…..”.
Seriously.. there’s something about you and proton.
“If your only tool is a hammer, then every problem looks like a nail.”
Such a beautiful car. This car has completely killed the Passat and Jetta in Malaysia. Every single buyer of VW has now moved to this A3. Also Audi gives genuine 4 year warranty not some insurance crap that VW gives that is discretionary and always rejected by the insurance Adjuster.
VW group has shot themselves in the foot. Nobody will buy their VW cars anymore.
You do realize VW owns both VW and Audi?
he3, guess this guy dont even know that audi is owned by VW….VW is setting up audi msia at the ground floor of its VW building in Bangsar & its curretly under renovation. The 1.4 A3 engine/gearbox is the same as the UK’s match trim golf mk7 which is a slightly lower power 1.4TSI (or Audi language TFSI)…the mk7 here churning higher 140PS/250nm compared to the Audis 122PS/200nm.
Good more car review please…
Is the 7 speed dry clutch gear box have same problem as VW one?
its the same gearbox used by VW group
BMW 316i FTW!!!
Wait for LCI version , then I’ll buy it
A premium b segment car. 180k I can get a full spec d segment jappy.
Well, its back to those rich on which can show their wealth
A3 is C-segment
Audi’s B-segment is A1..
A4 is what segment then?
compact executive or some classify it as D segment, same range with BMW 3series, Merc C class, Volvo S60..
Go Wiki “car classification”
Music and Intro so disco…I like!
Cars are nice too!
Lime Green Pants ? Seriusly ?
Not many drivers know the actual dual clutch work..its delicate…you simply cant treat such gearbox like conventional one..Ive noticed a lot of drivers changing to R gear when car have not come to complete stop…Long terms more harm to the transmission..
This segment is for those who wanna feel different from others..Here you have 1.4 supercharge/turbo TSI that perform slightly better than a Civic 1.8
the 1.4 TFSI is only TURBOCHARGED
There is 2 version of 1.4 TFSI / TSI
If it is only 140ps, then it is turbocharged only
If it is only 160ps, then it is twincharger
you guys should wear the similar colour suits to match the cars. lol
and that camera work man!! that camera work!!
good job on production quality.
as for the car, I bet it will have a lot of problems like all other audis.Design is nice tho.
Still prefer CLA. boohoo~
Nah, don’t mind the wait, at least the production quality is almost the same if not better than some of the big time ads we see.
Wondering if the 122hp 1.4 will be underpowered or not… considering the Golf 1.4TSi comes with more power. Looks very sharp but the size difference is noticeable between this and the A4.
And at least the A4 is bigger and cheaper by 5k (if you compare both 1.8TFSi models).
Oh and nice fedora hat Hafriz, wonder you were so shy about it… it’s not like its Harve’s white dress LOL. :p
Base model A4 is only using CVT and no Quattro.. that’s why its cheaper.. If want to compare, compare the A3 1.8TFSI with A4 2.0TFSI which both equipped with Quattro.
its churning 200nm of torque which is higher than a 1.8 civic or abt the same as a 2.0 accord/camry …btw both 2.4 accord/2.5 camry is only churning out abt 230-240nm of torque….anyway, the mk7 golf 1.4tsi do churned out higher torque at 250nm…he3
I thought Santa Claus is showing his new ride.
You should seriously think of cutting weight. Your body occupy almost half the screen.
haha he would be good candidate for DRIVEN Xmas special santa claus
http://www.mudah.my/Mercedes+Benz+E250+A+CGI+TURBO-27624543.htm
A local CKD 2011 merc E-class 250 CGI (2.0 turbo) is going for RM190……
the whole nine-yards with glass panoramic roof
I mean….if you really must spend that much money on a car….at least consider other available options thoroughly..
Makes sense!
But dude, that was 2011 and this is 2014,
U r comparing bell bottoms vs carrot-cut tight jeans.
Forget it. I say Go for the audi and break yr wallet
3 years only….
With the merc u get d badge, status, looks, space, practicality….
The audi is just too bland, small, expensive to maintain, not many toys inside….no electric seat for passenger in the 1.4….
What exactly are you getting? Its not cheap…
If you want to break the bank go for the a4 with B&O sound system (16k option prev) but now its inclusive 235k…
The a3, at that price, with that specification doesnt make sense….
Looks like a mini A4. Which is not a bad thing. Interesting that the 1.8 has less boot space. Is it because it has to take in the extra Quattro hardware?
Yes it’s because of the quattro differential at the rear, the boot floor had to be raised.
Your profile picture: Is it ALan Tam?
looks like a mazda to me..better get the mazda, much better value for money..
I can’t wait to see the next episode of Driven comparing the this Audi A3 with Merc. CLA and BMW 316i!
Test drove the 1.4T 2 weeks ago. Will try to arrange to test out the 1.8 quattro next week.
The chasis is very solid and strong. Very very nice on twist and turn. 1.4T felt reasonably powerful actually.
Hey guys, well done, keep it up. Hafriz & Harvinder… keep up the good work buddies.
Very soothing and relaxing watching the video with the music at the background and the clam voices,
I’ll def be back for more.
Thank yo !
OMG! It’s similar price as the UK. In fact the LED option is cheaper than the UK. Well done Audi.
preve cfe more power than this 1.4 ,
cheaper by 2 half
You pay 180K and you have to top up 3K for push start button and 3K for leather seats, what a joke !!!
Same like McDonald’s you want hash brown you add money, you want cappuccino, you add money
Hafriz.. it’s pronounce at se-then.. no se-dan. Please learn from Harvinder.
very nice review. Compact, full of infos and professional. No more childish review. I like.
Seriously A1,A2,A3,A4,A5,A6,A7,A8, THEY all LOOK the SAME.
Just like order coffee from Starbucks, Tall, Grande or Venti.
BMW front 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 also same, so what?
You still cannot afford to buy.
Hahhahahhhahhhhahhhaa
it reminds me Audi A4 std …RM80K ++ that time
Dry clutch again same as VW… Scaly man
Nothing scary about VW’s dry clutch. Please try one before you comment
when will we get the option for s3 with manual transmission?
