SPIED: 7-seat BMW 2 Series Active Tourer shows face

Spy-Shots of Cars

It’s no secret that BMW’s coming up with a seven-seat version of its 2 Series Active Tourer – we’ve seen spyshots as early as May last year, and even a video of it testing on the ‘Ring.

The model’s always been snapped camouflaged from head to toe – until now. Today’s spyshots reveal its face for the first time – although it’s of little use since the front end looks no different from the five-seat car‘s, and the part we’re really interested in (the back, naturally) continues to play chameleon.

We see a more upright rear screen, but the rear overhang looks like it hasn’t been extended much – will the two last-row seats be able to accommodate anyone other than children with a reasonable degree of comfort? They’d have to look through some pretty small rear quarter windows, too.

We’re still trying to get used to seeing a kidney grille on an MPV – and where’s the Hofmeister kink?

Why would someone buy a car that ONLY gives 2 years warranty.

BMW Malaysia is the ONLY company not just in Malaysia but the entire world to give its cars only 2 years warranty.

All other cars in Malaysia have upped their warranty to 5 years. Even BMW’s rival Mercedes have upped their warranty to 4 years.

Do you know why BMW only gives a mere 2 years warranty? Very simple. Just right after the 2nd year, as seen in forums and BMW groups postings, and facebook postings, major parts will fail. Most common part is the gearbox. Be prepared to fork out about RM80,000 for a new gearbox.

That is why if you buy BMW, make sure you are a multimillionaire. If you are just a high earner earning RM20,000 a month, please don’t bother with BMW even if you can afford the repayments. You will be paying through your nose for parts after the warranty expires. That is why you see so many 1 year old BMWs for sale in the 2nd hand market.

Remember, unless you are a multi millionaire, please be careful when buying a BMW in Malaysia.

To those sour grapes BMW salesman who will say I am a Mercedes salesman, don’t be jealous. I am not. I am a BMW owner fighting for the rights of all BMW owners in Malaysia for longer warranty. You BMW salesman should be telling your management to give longer warranty to us BMW owners.

Facebook and forums don’t lie. Go and see for yourself what happens after the 2nd year and read all the forums. The saying Banyak Masuk Workshop is not a myth. Even the company themselves so scared to give you more than 2 years warranty so that alone speaks volume!

Are you willing to pay extra for 3rd to 5th years insurance-based warranty?

BTW, Q7 & current R-class are having the same problem with 3rd row. Look at Alphard’s 3rd row.

You are so consistent that i finally decided to really take a look at the fb and bmw forums for malaysia.

…you really aren’t trolling in the slightest bit. Its yet to reach Volkwswagen level of anger, but the unrest amongst owner is fairly high.

Im honestly wondering if my close neighbour has problems with his 520 that he isnt telling me…

  • BMW BEnz VW Audi,
all mostly come with 2 years Manufacturer warranty…

    Designed for Europes…
In Western, always change new car within 5years.
    no need so many warranty..

no need to design a car too durable and reliable to last long..

so, that’s why u get 2 years warranty.

VW China 10 years warranty? let’s wait few years later and see how VW china have to face the Big Mass of Problems.

Pictures usually do not do justice to the car itself. I will save my judgement on the looks of this vehicle until I see it in the flesh.

The interior does look typical BMW save for the gear lever though but everything else is business as usual.

I’m also interested to know how this baby handles around the corners.
