The Infiniti Q50S Hybrid has quietly cropped up on Infiniti Malaysia’s website, with a list of standard equipment and an estimated price of RM400,000.

The Hybrid adds a few extra accoutrements to the already comprehensive equipment of its 2.0t Standard and Premium siblings. Exterior additions include the S-specific front fascia and 19-inch wheels, while the interior gets such niceties as a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar and torso support, aluminium pedals, solid magnesium steering wheel paddles and an Around View Monitor.

Powering the Hybrid is a 298 hp, 338 Nm 3.5 litre Atkinson-cycle V6 mated to a 62 hp, 270 Nm electric motor, a lithium-ion battery and a seven-speed automatic transmission with Adaptive Shift Control. Total output is 364 hp and 546 Nm, enough for the car to go from 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds on its way to an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h, while combined fuel consumption is rated at 6.2 litres per 100 km.

Under the skin, the Hybrid gets the newfangled steer-by-wire Direct Adaptive Steering system and a sport-tuned suspension, as well as a host of driver assist systems including Blind Spot Intervention, Lane Departure Prevention, Back-up Collision Intervention, Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Forward Emergency Braking, Intelligent Cruise Control and Active Lane Control.

From the looks of it, the Q50 lineup will be launched in Malaysia very soon. We’ve driven the Infiniti Q50S Hybrid twice already, and you can read Jonathan’s impressions from the Nissan 360 event in California as well as Anthony’s comprehensive local review.

Its expensive, heavy , and your maintaining 2 powertrains ..” resale value would be bad” …

of course theres the fart of active and safety features that comes standard and sorta….justify the price over the lesser sibling..

You have to really know full well whut you’re getting youself into in purchasing such a car…
fuel consumption also is nuthin to write home abt…( its not even mentioned in the article lol) , only in the photos of specs list….

the lesser 2.0 turbo premium would make more sense

The 2.0 turbo sourced from mercedes benz should have 3rd party performance parts available everywhere from BRABUS , AMG , ABT ,
In the right hands for further tweaking with a 100k budget , it could rival the more expensive sibling in terms of speed and sheer pleasure behind the wheel

potential buyers is advised to wait for the next c class to arrive… …..and another episode of driven… sports saloon shootout

dude shawal, you must be commenting without reading the article..fuel consumption was written there in the article as in here “while combined fuel consumption is rated at 6.2 litres per 100 km.” , don’t give misleading info when you can seem to read it.

Saw it on the move in South Korea, sorry to say, not my cup of tea.

Based on pricing alone, the Merc E300 Bluetec Hybrid looks like a better buy. Just my take on it.

I truly agree that the Merc E300 Bluetec will be a better choice. With Euro 5 diesel coming to JB, it is the best combination for power and fuel efficiency. And lower road tax and maintenance I couldn’t ask for more.

What man would need with a RM400K car that looks like an elephant sat on the front bonnet. RM400 is grossly over price and i use the term grossly very gross loosely.

  • i think there is a typo, fuel consumption is 6.2L/100km, not 6.2km/litre.

The car is nice to see. The price tag is not so nice to see though. The car joined the hybrid game here late. Imagine if this was on sale last year, would’ve been a steal.
