Aston Martin Lagonda – Oman testing photos released

The Aston Martin Lagonda was last seen boarding an Oman Air plane to Muscat for hot weather testing – now that it’s there, Aston Martin has released another slew of images showing its Middle East-only flagship sedan in full from multiple angles.

This Verification Prototype is targeted to cover over 22,500 km across four weeks as part of a Hot Environment Testing (HET) programme designed to simulate the climate of its intended market, with temperatures ranging between 30 to 50 degrees Celsius. The big bruiser has already travelled more than 8,000 km so far on coastal, urban and desert roads.

The black paint finish was deliberately chosen to torture the cabin trim and fittings – heat soak tests will push interior surface temperatures up to a sweltering 80 degrees Celcius.

Inspired by the futuristic angular 1976 original designed by William Towns, the new Lagonda is built on the company’s stalwart aluminium VH architecture and is expected to make use of the Rapide S‘ 6.0 litre V12 that produces 558 PS and 620 Nm of torque. Less than 100 are forecast to be built, with sales carried out on an invitation-only basis.

  • Suddenly the Aston’s front grille and front light assembly looks like Honda’s ‘solid wing face’ design theme

Exterior design is imposing for sure. While its not extremely good looking, its not ugly either. I still prefer the Rapide though.

Judging by how long the car is in pictures (with people around), this must be like the size of a stretched limo or a bus mini wilayah (without the height of course).

Lastly, if I was an Arab oil sheikh, why on earth would i want to buy a long sleek heavy limo sized sedan with little ground clearance. I kinda doubt this can go through the dessert at all. Might just get stuck in sand. A tall AWD vehicle, like a Cayenne or G Wagen would be a better weapon of choice no? Unless of course, the owner wants to put it in a cargo plane or cargo ship to bring to London and show off a car that cant be brought there.

When I look at this limo face… It reminds me of a…

    .. Ford Fiesta.

    Jgn marah..I was just kidding.

This is how Ford applies the same concept whilst striping AM iconic fascia.
No I’m not saying Ford tiru buta buta.
A Ford is a Ford and an AM is still an AM.
