SsangYong’s B-segment crossover challenger, the SsangYong X100, is almost ready – the company has teased two Paris-bound “near production ready” concepts, the SsangYong XIV-Air and the SsangYong XIV-Adventure, ahead of the production model’s debut reported to be in January.
The two XIV (eXciting user-Interface Vehicle) cars showcase the brand’s new “Nature born – 3 Motion” design language and its “Robust, Specialty and Premium” development philosophy. The Adventure concept goes a step further with the addition of a more rugged front fascia, a cargo rack on the roof and what looks like a backpack on the tailgate.
These concepts are powered by either a petrol or diesel engine, both displacing 1.6 litres and meeting Euro 6 emissions standards. Both cars measure 4,195 mm long, with a 2,600 mm wheelbase – if you’re keeping track, that’s 78 mm shorter (with a 81 mm longer wheelbase) than the Ford EcoSport but 36 mm longer (wheelbase 62 mm longer) than the Peugeot 2008.
Built in conjunction with SsangYong’s parent company Mahindra (whose own version is expected to arrive about six months later), the X100 has already been spotted undergoing testing early this year, and if the recent XLV concept is any indication, there may even be a seven-seater version to fight the Toyota Rush.
A recent report suggested that Mahindra and SsangYong are looking to create working synergies with other companies, including PSA Peugeot Citroën and, curiously, the recently-bankrupt (yes, again) Saab.

Beribu-ribu tahniah Ssangyong! Proton kasi mimpi lah mau bina kereta serupa Ssangyong
Proton should take over this sick company and concentrate on their Diesel turbo engine instead of producing rough unreliable CAMPRO engine for the past 10 years.
