The Subaru Forester STI has been teased ahead of its official world debut, which is set to take place on November 25. Subaru enthusiasts will remember the last Forester STI, which was launched back in 2004 for the Japanese domestic market.
Just last month, Subaru presented the Forester STI tS concept which looks almost identical to the car teased here. The production version is expected to come with a more aggressive bodykit and bigger rims with larger brakes underneath, along with a smattering of Cherry Blossom Red highlights both inside and out.
The Subaru Forester STI is expected to debut with a variant of the EJ257 2.5 litre, four-cylinder turbocharged boxer engine from the Subaru WRX STI, which produces 296 hp and 407 Nm of torque. A six-speed manual gearbox will be the likely partner.
The big question is whether or not Subaru has plans to sell the car outside of Japan. Should the Japanese choose to keep it for themselves, a “JDM Forester STI” could be powered by the 2.0 litre EJ207 engine found in the JDM-spec WRX STI – that one comes with 304 hp and 422 Nm of torque.

If only Mitsu came out with new Airtrek Turbo R to compete with this, miss that time.
Airtrek is one hell of a machine! The only letdown is the auto gear box and the torsion beam suspension
Nice! Bring it here!
The local Subaru dealer is quite unambitious. So few Subaru dealers representing such a fantastic brand across the country. People like myself who resides in East Malaysia pay very little attention to any updates or launching a from this brand. After all, you can see but cannot buy.
Agreed. Subaru makes fantastic, simple, yet tough cars, but that would mean nothing if service network is lacking. Even in Peninsular Malaysia is limited to certain major towns (mostly still in Klang Valley). A Forester would make a lot of sense in Sabah & Sarawak where AWD vehicles rule, but I guess Motor Image sees it differently.
By the way, anybody notice that MI increased the price of the Forester XT recently? Its now more than RM210k.
Yup, Subaru as a brand is great but not the local dealers.
try to ask for a test drive.
I went to 2 subaru showroom couple of weeks ago to test my dream machine, WRX. and you know what they said? No test drive! they dont even wanted to start the car for me to feel! Yet the salesman had the gut to ask me to pay RM10K as a deposit. Giving him a last chance, i asked if will they allow for a test drive once i paid the booking fee. the answer: NO. WTH?
thats why i rather buy from recon guy
Either the dealer doesn’t have a test drive unit or they just don’t want to give test drive. Either way, its bad customer experience. Try ask if the sales guy can drive the car instead and we sit in the car to get a feel of the car?
dealers are worried about joyriders for performance cars. if u don’t know what u are buying then best not when it comes to high performance cars.
