Jaguar F-Type Coupe launched – yours from RM900k

Jaguar F-Type Coupe 10

The Jaguar F-Type Coupe has finally made its way to Malaysia earlier today, a month after it was previewed at the Sunway Convention Centre and about a year after the debut of the convertible.

Gorgeous, isn’t it? Designed under the watchful eye of chief designer Ian Callum, the tapered fastback hardtop sits perfectly on the F-Type’s strong haunches, complementing the car’s dynamic and aggressive design. The curvaceous rear quarter panel and roof pillars are all pressed from a single piece of aluminium, eliminating the need for multiple panels and cosmetic joints.

Under the skin, the coupe’s all-aluminium bodyshell features the highest torsional rigidity of any production Jaguar ever made – despite the lack of B-pillars – thanks to a high-strength hydro-formed aluminium alloy beam that runs all the way from the base of the A-pillar to the back of the D-pillar. Suspension is double wishbones all-round with Adaptive Dynamics damping.

The strong chassis and lightweight construction goes hand-in-hand with the muscle under the bonnet. Only two variants are available (skipping the 335 hp/450 Nm base model), starting with the F-Type S that draws 375 hp and 460 Nm from a 3.0 litre supercharged V6. The 0-100 km/h sprint takes 4.9 seconds while the top speed is electronically limited to 275 km/h.

Stepping up to the F-Type R nets you Jaguar’s venerable 5.0 litre supercharged V8 that develops 542 hp and a heady 680 Nm. So equipped, the coupe rockets to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, and the max speed net is raised to 300 km/h.

Both models send power to the rear wheels via an eight-speed Quickshift automatic transmission, but only the R gets an Electronic Active Differential (EAD) with torque vectoring by braking. The top model is also differentiated by stiffer spring rates, a bespoke tune for Adaptive Dynamics damping as well as standard Super Performance Braking system compared to the High Performance Braking setup on the S.

Elsewhere, the F-Type R is marked out with 20-inch Gyrodyne wheels (the S gets 20-inch Tornado items), quad exhaust tips (Active Sports Exhaust is standard across the range), a powered tailgate, a panoramic roof and winged Performance seats with inflatable side bolsters.

Now, brace yourself for the prices – RM899,888 for the F-Type S Coupe and a cool RM1,158,888 for the F-Type R Coupe, both on-the-road excluding insurance. Three colours are available for both models – Polaris White, Salsa Red and Stratus Grey.

Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia also took the opportunity to open the doors to Sisma Auto Kuala Lumpur, a 6,500 sq foot dual-brand showroom at Menara Worldwide on Jalan Bukit Bintang. The company also announced that Jaguar Land Rover Glenmarie will be expanded by one acre to house a 12-car showroom as well as a 16-bay service centre complete with an aluminium body repair shop.

    • too right! correct me if i’m wrong but in the UK the Type S is priced closer to the Cayman S, which is about 600k here. thats not including other options.

unless these cats come with all the options box ticked, JLR M’sia really cekik darah mannnn….. not that it matters to those who could afford these cool cats anyway

Wow.. purposely launched the S and R variant. Left out the baseline variant. So all it’s range will be inside RM800k and above. Cars for cronies and royal families. Both categories are goyang kaki typed. Anyway, nice car.

Beautiful car! I think i will be buying a Jaguar the next time instead of Mercedes or Audi that ive been sticking for quite some time now. I am not buying this car as its too expensive for me. Maybe an XF or XJ.

Somehow with the sloping roof, it kinda reminds me of the Audi A7’s back.

the base F-Type S coupe going for RM899,888 doesnt make sense at all

in UK a F-Type S coupe going for 60k Pound

where as Porsche Carrera PDK going for 76k pound but in Malaysia Porsche Carrera PDK is going for RM800k

Why is Sisma Auto trying to rip Malaysians off with so much margin?

oh due to economic of scales, having lower sales volume therefore it is more costly to maintain service centers and showrooms?

or perhaps the specs are different? i doubt so thought

  • F-Type S vs RC F on Oct 29, 2014 at 6:20 pm

    Jaguar F-Type S = 375HP, 0-100kmph 4.9sec
    Lexus RC F = 470HP, 0-100kmph 4.5sec

Now i know these two cars are different classes of cars. But for the price of RM899,888 for the Jaguar F-Type S, the Lexus RC F seems to be a better buy at RM782,000. The RC F just looks and feels more luxurious inside compared to the F-Type. Yes, the F-Type is really sporty inside but so is the RC F.. The difference is that the RC F has a true luxury interior compared to the Jag. And of course in terms of reliability, if you’re gonna spend so much money already, the Lexus is a no brainer.

But i guess these cars are for the enthusiasts.. so it doesn’t really matter how much the car is or how fast the car is.. Enthusiast, like myself, have individual taste in a car.

Obviously you haven’t seen the F-Type in the metal on the road. Its road presence with snarl and growl even at slow speed intoxicated even the bystanders. RC-F is a mediocre comparison to the F-Type.

      • Nah.. The f type looks pretty much like any other sports coupe on the road , only with nice rear design. The RC looks is uncommon. Stands out more on the roads.

Mak ai mahalnya. Here in the UK the F-Type coupe selling starts at £52k. Apart from import tax and the excise duty can someone justify the rm640k price bump?

    Insane price!!

For that sum of money, the RC-F, M4 and C63 sound a lot more reasonable. Or, with 900k, I rather aim for the M5.
