Renault Duster Oroch pick-up truck concept unveiled

Renault Duster Oroch-01

The Renault Duster Oroch concept has been unveiled ahead of its public debut at the upcoming 2014 Sao Paulo Motor Show. A styling exercise by the company’s design centre for Latin America, the Oroch serves as a preview for an upcoming pick-up truck based on the Renault/Dacia Duster budget 4X4.

“The Renault Duster Oroch show car boasts the energetic, robust stance that appeals to customers. It’s the work of our Sao Paulo design centre and packs an emotional punch which is characteristic of design in Latin America,” says senior VP of corporate design for Renault, Laurens van der Acker.

A satin white paintjob is offset by orange bits that help to project the spirit of kitesurfing, which is said to inspire the Oroch’s design. Integrated roof rails, 18-inch wheels, side body cladding and a bold front end further add to the robust persona of the truck.

Inside, the jazzed-up Duster dashboard features a multimedia screen which projects live video feed from two cameras mounted at the rear of the car – one with an angle of 80° and the other at 140°. Control for said cameras are via a rotary switch mounted on the centre console.

Additional layers of foam are inserted into the seats to help improve durability – Renault calls this Cover Carving technology. In further keeping with the kitesurfing-inspired theme, certain part of the seats, dashboard and door inserts are made from a material that mimics neoprene wetsuits. As this is just a design exercise, no technical specs are available.

Looks pretty interesting, doesn’t it?

I trade my Duster by Oroch, but if the option of automatic transmission remain the Jurassic that equips the Duster, I prefer change brands. Who has ever walked with any basic automatic transmission in 2014 will be desperate to go on auto Duster. Gives the shame of Renault Brazil and regret having bought the Duster.
