With the Mazda 6 only having been unveiled in late 2012, this bit of news surprises us – it appears Mazda’s D-segment sedan will be getting a facelift soon.
Blurry photos of what appears to be a sales handbook detailing the Mazda 6’s mid-life facelift has popped up on a French automotive forum. The handbook says Atenza instead of 6, so the origin could be JDM, since that is what the 6 is called in the Japanese market. China also uses the name Atenza instead of Mazda 6.
On the front, the gloss black bar on the front grille that connects the headlamps to the Mazda badge has been removed. The grille itself appears to have thicker chrome surrounds.
The headlamps have been revised to sport a more prominent daytime running light bar that curves around a single projector, very much like the design on the new Mazda 2. There’s also additional chrome around the fog lamp surrounds, which are now smaller. The alloy wheel design looks new too.
The changes to the interior are more drastic – it appears that the entire dashboard has been revised to a completely new look, with the option of two-tone leather interiors much like the Mazda 2.
The new Mazda 6 now gets the company’s new MZD Connect infotainment system with a freestanding display, much like on the Mazda 2, 3 and MX-5. Other than the new gear shifter design, there’s also a new electric parking brake which saves space in the centre console – this should allow for more storage space.
Pre-facelift Mazda 6
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Sad that the Mazda 6 won’t be a hit in Malaysia due to its higher pricing compared to its competitors and C-Segment interior space of a D-Segment car.
Why does that sadden you?
the headlights looks better on pre facelift as it looks longer, this facelift headlight looks short n dont match the car wideness which reveals a massive grille there
What ? Another face lift again ?
Interior really nice looking! The DRL is also very good. The current one looks very after thought, esp ethe CX5’s DRL which looks like someboddy forgotten switch off the light. This definitely looks proper!
dude, the CX-5’s DRL was one of earliest module before the LED’s hit the car market

548 days since PRU13. Still no reduction in car price.

it’s actually good to see the facelift version not coming to bolehland, as the price would be increased more than current one..
OMG, the interior is bloody fricking amazing
U comments is a dead giveaway .. you for sure work for Bermaz
The exterior facelift certainly has further enhanced the overall look, and the huge interior upgrade is definitely very much welcomed (as the current car’s interior looks a bit drab). All these upgrades has further stamped the Mazda 6’s status as the best Japanese D-segment car on the market & should place it on par with the new generation of European D-segment cars such as the upcoming new VW Passat, Ford Mondeo and the facelifted Peugeot 508.
above all, glad the interior improvised a lot. it’s more “buy-able” now, that was the main put off for me.
The interior is a BIG plus for me. I love it!
Another Mazda troll
YOU are the one who sounds like an utter troll, going after anyone who says they like the interior. Go play in traffic, loser.
That is refreshing ….. when is this coming to malaysia ? am on the lookout for a new car between Mazda6 2.0, Accord 2.0 or Teana ….
Mazda 6 definitely..
Hi, first of all, see what suit you on your daily use.
If you would like to own a car for 5 years or less, get toyota camry.
If you would own for long, get other than camry.
Second, Mazda has the best driving pleasure for the driver compare to all. But recommended RON97 as the high compression ratio. RON95 can feel down on power.
Accord, comes between passenger & driver which is same as Teana.
to be honest RON 97 isnt much better than RON 95…overseas recommended premium fuel is usually RON 98….
Finally, they’ve come to their senses. The current Mazda6 is brilliant & beautiful car to look at and to drive. Until you got inside. Where one finds himself transported back into time.
With the facelift, looks like the interior will finally match up to the exterior. It’s really good looking. Not so sure about the 2 tone trim though. Might work if they dont contrast so much cos like the black on white in the picture. Perhaps grey/black might work nicer.
The two-trim interior colour (white/biege-black) has uplifted Mazda 6’s appeal to almost premium level car.
Also just noticed that there is no normal handbrake. Either its using foot operated parking brake or an elecronic parking brake to the right of the rotary dial.
Maybe it uses a chock.
2 a$$ wipes who dont read article before commenting..
children book ka? see picture only?
it is using electronic parking brake
Lagi cantiq, both exterior and interior.
finally a premium looking interior…screw the audi a4…buy this
Well the exterior is beautiful as always and the interior is much better than the prefacelift. Though honestly the interior looks familiar to another car. I didnt mean Mazda copied but it looks rather familiar

When it reaches Malaysia, it will look exactly like the old pre-facelift version. Bermaz ftw!
Agreed, the change in Mazda facelift is awesome. Nevertheless, Audi and Jaguar front grilles are equally elegant too. To me, nothing can beat Mercedes beauty and elegance of it’s facial appearance, everlasting…
Mazda 3 CKD was delayed from Q3 to now Q4. looking at it, it’s gonna be another delay to 2015.
not Q4 anymore its early 2015 it seems
Maybe the photographs didn’t do justice to the design. I find that the chrome is a little too much, too thick, where the grille meets the head lamps. Hopefully this brochure is meant for China market
