Ford has teased its new Everest through a photo and a short video clip, ahead of the third-generation T6 Ranger-based SUV getting its global reveal next week. The Everest is set to be unveiled at a special media event in Beijing on November 13.
The graphic doesn’t reveal much, just a partial of the grille and the headlamp assembly, but it’s worth noting that – in that area at least – things have made it almost unchanged from that previewed via the Everest Concept from Bangkok earlier this year. Expect the production version to carry over many of the design cues from the study, though it’ll ride on smaller-sized wheels on the series models.
We do know the exterior colour palette for the production vehicle though – five shades will be available for the new Everest, these being Radiant Red, Electric Gold, Warm Sienna, Steel Blue and Carbon Grey.
The company says it has taken five years and 4,500 man-years of design and development work to get the seven-seater to where it is. Multiple virtual versions were developed concurrently, and whittled down until the resultant form – shown through the concept – came about. A tough yet sophisticated outlook as well as a commanding shape with strong road presence were part of the vehicle’s design brief.
Todd Willing, director of the Ford Design Centre in Melbourne (and the man who gave the C346 Focus sedan its tail) said the Everest was the culmination of several years’ work, aligning Ford’s global design language with customer insight from each of the key markets where the vehicle will be sold.
The Australian-designed and developed Everest, which will be built in Thailand, has been subjected to global durability testing, including extensive development work Down Under, especially in the Australian outback. Just how good, we’ll find out next year – production only begins at the FTM facility in Rayong in 2015.
In the meantime, not long before we see how the production Everest shapes up – stay tuned for more details next week.

Good job but can Ford get the damn build quality and after sales service right before launching tbe darn vehicle!
I blame the Sime Darby for some of the horrible service
Unworthy to be with Ford.
Oh boy oh boy oh booyyyyyy
Great, hope it will be made available in malaysia. We are lacking well-equipped proper rugged 5 door 4×4 suv. The fortuner & pajero sport is too underspec & toyota landcruiser is too expensive.
Great! After buying a Wildtrak Ranger for my dad (that is after a year of waiting), I’ve been looking forward to this Everest. The ride is simply wonderful with powerful 3.2 engine.
Fortuner is too overpriced and underspecced;
Pajero Sport is not my cup of tea although powerful;
Chevrolet Trailblazer is not here;
Isuzu has yet to bring in SUV spawned from D-Max while
Nissan should take longer time to introduce its Navara (let alone Pathfinder)…
In my opinion, this model should be equipped with a lot of features while priced slightly higher compared to its competitors. Hopefully it will be less than RM200k
Ok. 1st impression is very Fortuner-ish. But then again, looks good no matter what.
