BMW 320i Sport Edition now available – RM259k

The New BMW 320i Sport (2)

BMW Malaysia has added a new variant to their F30 3 Series line-up in Malaysia. The new BMW 320i Sport Edition retails for RM258,800 on-the-road without insurance, a RM17,000 premium over the ‘regular’ 320i Sport.

What do you get for that additional RM17,000? On the exterior, the alloy wheels are upgraded to 18 inch Double Spoke Style 397 wheels wrapped with 225/45R18 tyres. These wheel will be familiar to you as they were previously used on the 328i Sport Line, a variant which has now been replaced by the 328i M Sport.

Interior-wise, there are three changes – the 6.5 inch iDrive screen now has GPS navigation, the audio system has been upgraded to a nine-speaker 205W BMW Advanced Loudspeaker sound system and the instrument cluster is now the full black panel unit with a larger multi-info display area similiar to that on the 328i.

Elsewhere, the specifications remain the same – a 2.0 litre TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder mill produces 184 hp and 270 Nm and is mated to a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission. The 0-100 km/h sprint is done in 7.6 seconds and the top speed is 235 km/h, all while producing a combined fuel consumption figure of 6.0 litres per 100 km.

They had to do this to compete with the W205 C200 especially when that baby comes in CKD next year. The reverse camera is still missing though…

It has stock clearance written all over it, I feel. Since the LCI is imminent anyway.

17k seems reasonable though for what you are getting. The rims itself would set you 5 digits with the tyres.

Side note: I didn’t know it is possible for the older iDrive controller, the iDrive with Navigation Professional controller without the iDrive Touch (as seen on the 2012 MY units) gets the NBT software too… I have only seen the iDrive CIC using this remote and the NBT iDrive using the iDrive touch remote. Hmm this is giving me an idea…. I like the new iDrive NBT, it feels really responsive and the animations are nicer.

PPS: The photos look absolutely gorgeous, pretty sure this is not the work of the BMW Malaysia press release, though is it me, or the number plates look a bit off, like…. in Image ID – 287008, the 3 and 2 are not aligned right, or in the Image ID – 287006, the vertical alignment of the text in the number plate is not balanced.

Either that or something is going wrong with my eyesight.

Could be a normal number plate photoshopped with the variant of the car.

Anyway, don’t count on the actual price in the showroom being just 17k. Obviously the 320i normal version will get more discount. Might end up being huge, the price difference.

          Could be…

I’d see there is a chance they will just axe out the base 320i soon.

Most likely they will axe it of and this will be the 320i people will be getting later. Since its close to the end of the year maybe one could get this @ the price of the 320i Sports Line?

Good car (for 5 years only) but RV too bad. You bought RM259k this year sell RM 150k next year.

            Better get a Toyota/Lexus.

Same L0rrr, to say price will drop from RM259k to RM150k in terms of RV within one year, goes to indicate your level of mentality…nuff said.

Eh sign me on, I’ll come and pick up the car tomorrow. Better make sure you don’t give any Hilux stories, I will not hesitate to hurl a cabbage(s) at you.

only the Navigation Professional gets the touch iDrive. The 6.5 incher gets the normal extended controller without the touch. That said and done, i am hoping to see this in the 316i and also in the 320d.

          Ah I see….

Guess you’d have to wait for the LCI to get the Business Nav on the 316i.

so this is actually the variant that I has been waiting for the long time
it makes this model almost identical to the 328i in term of spec
Why use 6.5 inch screen instead of 8.8 inch screen?Rather Confusing marketing strategy…

Yeah I just realized they’re still using the smaller screen plus there is still no comfort access too and the iDrive system is not the touch version.

  • For RM17000, I could get aftermarket rims which looks better and getting aftermarket retrofit of the GPS plus enhancement of audio speakers.
But that will cause BMW to void the warranty in case of accidents…
Just add M-Sport bodykit together with this package and we can call this a good deal. Don’t always think of profit

6.5 display is ugly. Give the future buyer the bigger size display such on 328i/328i m sport.

Nope…reserved for M-Sport models like the 320d and 328i but word is you’ll need to wait for that color.

If I not mistaken the smaller screen with navigation is the business version and the bigger screen is the professional version.

Thankfully they decided to upgrade the sound system. 9 speakers should kick some butt. Bigger rims don’t do much for comfort, but will make the car look more garang.

  • As a bmw328i owner, i would strongly suggest to not buy bmw. bmw malaysia is too arrogant to still provide miserably 2 years warranty. Quality control is none exist in the world of bmw , rattling noise here and there all over the interior, cracked headlamp cover, backlight fell off, loud windnoise, overall poor noise insulation, together with the infamous steering rack problem which is unsolved worldwide. The best part is service centers all run by a bunch of tai-chi master and liar, literally a nightware once u signed the dotted line…

  • As an owner of BMW 328i, i would strongly suggest not to get into trouble of owning a BMW. Quality control is the term that never exist in the world of BMW. Rattling noise all over the interior plastic parts, cracked headlamp cover, backlight fall off, loud wind noise, overall poor noise insulation, together with the infamous steering rack knocking problem which is still unsolved worldwide(my car has changed 4 sets of steering rack). Not to mention that BMW is still offers the industry lowest warranty period of 2 years. The best part is service centers run by a bunch of tai-chi master and liar, literally a nightware once u signed the dotted line!

  • The F30 3-Series isn’t a bad car , but neither is it miles ahead of the competition. The rest have played catch-up pretty well and are as good as the F30 if not better.

For example, the Lexus IS has a better interior and drives nearly as good. The Infinity Q50 is more agile though steering feel is lacking (the F30 isn’t better either).

And finally, its bitterly capable rival, the C-Class, which trumps the F30 in its latest disguise, the W205.
