Ford Ranger T6 facelift teased, showing all-new face

NewRangerXLT_Front

Hot on the heels of the new Ford Everest, it’s now nearly time to update its sibling – the T6 Ford Ranger – after more than three years on the market. To that end, Ford has released a teaser photo showing the front three-quarter view of the revamped pickup in full, with the new front end in clear view.

From the looks of it, the new Ranger will receive a similar face to the Everest, but with a slightly different bumper design and a larger, brasher chrome front grille that flows into the lower air intake. There’s also a new wheel design, and we’re expecting some changes to the rear of the truck as well. There may even be a redesigned interior, if the Everest is an accurate preview of what’s to come.

Engine choices should also mirror the Everest, utilising the familiar 2.2 litre four-cylinder and 3.2 litre five-cylinder Duratorq TDCi turbodiesels. Now that the new 2.0 litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol four is found on the SUV, will we see it on the truck, replacing the existing 2.5 litre Duratec naturally-aspirated mill? The current Getrag six-speed gearboxes – the MT82 manual and the 6R80 automatic – should also be retained.

The revised T6 Ford Ranger is set to go on sale in 2015, and word on the vine is that it will reach Malaysian shores sometime in the middle of next year.

  • Having driven my dad’s Ranger 3.2 Wildtrak occasionally I’d say that its handling and power is second to none – comfortable like an SUV but with great off-roading ability, I’ve yet to find any pickup that drives as well.
It makes me wonder why the Ranger is still the second best selling truck behind Hilux :(

When I test drove the T6 2.2 at launch, it did really impress how well it rode with no weight at the back. Normally pickups rode horribly with no weight at the back.

it was so comfortable and handled very well. The engine was willing but you could feel it lacked a little omph.

      • That’s why you either go for 3.2.. Or throw RaceChip into 2.2 Ranger for more oomph

I prefer the looks of the current version. This looks less macho, which a pickup truck should have IMO.

Personally I feel that the nicest looking pickup truck in Malaysia is the Ford Ranger.

Looks alot better than the current one… The current gen has awkward fender arches and the wheels are inside, so u get the impression that all that bulk is more than the actual chassis… Yes it looks macho bt nt good looking… I kno it has many fans bt never liked it… This one loks abit more modern n has more round edges than the very angular one we have…
Its looks too big on the road too… Bt somehow the slimmer d-max has rommier interior

The front is better than Everest, the current Ranger wheels are a little bit undersized and this one looks much proportionate, just wish we could get the same rim as Everest then it’ll be perfect!
