Renault Fluence facelift spotted testing in Malaysia!

2015-Renault-Fluence-Facelift-Malaysia-Spyshots-004

The latest facelift of the Renault Fluence has been spotted testing in Malaysia – yup, this is the one with the big diamond face. It debuted in Istanbul in November 2012, so strictly, it’s far from being a new car.

Apart from a new grille and front bumper with LED DRL strips above the fog lamps, there isn’t much to deduce where changes are concerned. We can see new wheels, but the rear end should maintain status quo, while the interior is expected to receive minimal alterations.

The 2.0 litre 16v 140 four-cylinder engine could soldier on as well, making 143 hp at 6,000 rpm and 195 Nm of torque at 3,700 rpm. Mated to an X-Tronic CVT, the Fluence is capable of 7.7 litres per 100 km on the European cycle.

Like the model that’s currently available, this facelifted Fluence should be locally-assembled (CKD) at Tan Chong Motor Assemblies’ Segambut facility. Read our full review of the Renault Fluence, or seek full specifications and a comparison with all of its closest rivals on CarBase.my.

Please properly position the hand brake handle and start stop button location.

      It’s a facelift not a redesign

      • So what?
You may claim that relocate the hand brake is not possible due to the design of mechanism. But, is it very difficult to place the Start/Stop button at right hand side?

    • I’ll take PREVE CFE over this any day. Put some leather, sound insulation and a new set of softer suspension (for comfort) and you get the best value for money C-segment.

It’s good to have nice facelift but do not lift up the price for the facelift model.

Why this facelifted model not on sale in the first place?. Instead old pre-facelift model being intoduced for just fewmonths than price discounted like mad to clear stock? They never learn from Chevrolet Malaysia’s history

The CKD kits come from South Korea, which, until I believe April this year has sold the version that was introduced in Malaysia. By that time TC must have already been working hard on introducing the car in Malaysia… and they probably didn’t want to peddle back and release the facelift instead. Wanted to wait a year or two before doing that.

However sales have been rather poor given how good value for money the car was (let alone the after sales package!), and the feedback that you saw on the internet was mostly that the car looked ugly up front. So I can’t blame TC to pull the handbrake and switch to the “new” design, which is much more successful in Korea (compared to the 2012 model).

Finally! Now maybe give previous buyers the option to facelift their car too? It’s pretty much the front bumper that is different, so it might not be a big deal.

  • This time perhaps they install the REAR PARKING SENSORS? Looking forward they install the day time running light and the nice deep brown colour too.
