No more orders, the Honda NSX is sold out for now

Even as order books for the new Civic Type R open in the UK, Honda UK is closing the pre-order bank for the Honda NSX. Over 100 customers have placed orders since the much anticipated and delayed new NSX was first displayed at Detroit and Geneva motor shows, as well as UK’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

“We are delighted that so many customers have placed orders for the highly desirable NSX. We very much look forward to delivering the NSX to these customers,” said Leon Brannan, head of car at Honda UK.

Honda UK started taking pre-orders for the NSX in April last year. Punters only had to shell out a £5,000 (RM26,935) deposit at any Honda UK dealership to be one of the first owners of the Ohio, USA-made NSX when it is delivered next year.

The new NSX will make use of a Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) three-motor high-performance hybrid system, with a mid-mounted direct-injected VTEC V6 mated to an electric motor and a dual clutch transmission. This combination drives the rear wheels; meanwhile, another pair of electric motors drive the front wheels and can provide instant positive or negative torque during cornering.

Is there a reason for suddenly closing the order books? Didnt realise Honda UK mentioned about any deadlines to book. Wonder if Honda Malaysia takes any bookings?

The new NSX has made it debut in Japan Super GT this year, but lose to Nissan GTR. Better luck next year.

It’s been long time coming for Honda to come out with the all-new NSX. When the original NSX first came out , it was one of the most advanced supercar in the world humbling even the sportscar giants namely Porsche & Ferrari.
There’s definitely a lot of expectation with the new NSX.It’s a bit unbelievable that Honda only quoted a modest 400bhp with hybrid for a supposedly Ferrari 458-challenging car.Even the basic Nissan GT-R is equipped with at least 540+bhp engine to topple Europe’s best mid-range supercars. Certainly an interesting prospect..

  • One of the prototypes caught fire during a Nurburgring run. I hope they fixed and test it further in the hot middle east sun. Honda sure doesn’t want some spoiled Arab prince to toast inside their car.
