Ford has announced that the Chinese-market Ford Edge – which premiered in Guangzhou last November – will make its market debut in May, and has begun highlighting details of the LSUV (the L in this case can be used to describe a quartet of terms – take your pick from Large, Luxury, Leading or Lifestyle) on the Ford China website.
Unlike in the US, the Edge will be offered in two variant forms, according to reports. There’s a five-seater like the North American version called the Sport as well as a three-row, seven-seater called the Edge Limited. The seven-seater will be unique to the Chinese market.
Chinese buyers will be able to pick from two EcoBoost engines, a 2.7 litre V6 and a 2.0 litre four-pot, the same as US buyers (who also get a 3.5 litre normally-aspirated unit), in FWD and AWD forms. It’s not mentioned if the 2.0 litre is the new, heavily revised EcoBoost unit or the original as found on the outgoing Mondeo, S-Max and Focus ST.
Output figures for the 2.0 are listed as 240 hp and 345 Nm, slightly different than that on the US model, which features the updated mill. The 2.7 litre V6, meanwhile, is good for 322 hp and 508 Nm, and both engines will be paired with a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission.
According to info from the website, the seven-seater features a longer wheelbase and corresponding rear half, though no measurement numbers are quoted. As for equipment, the list includes high brightness dual LED-headlamps, a large panoramic sunroof and electric power-folding rear seats. Variants are also set to be dressed with 21-inch wheels.
The Edge is also set to have features such as a 360-degree panoramic camera system as well as driver assistance systems such as active parking assist, active cruise control and a blind spot monitoring system.

We want this too! Mid size suv in malaysia all looks like mommy’s car.. Cx5, crv, kuga, sportage, tucson.. All too rounded n looks like a mum’s or ladies car
This one looks more like a full sized SUV rather than a mid range version.
Its dimensions reminds me of the Toyota Highlander I see in Cambodia
this is not full size. Ford’s full size SUV is the Expedition that is based on their F-150 model and carries a 5.4 V8 engine till last year and will change to a V6 ecoboost engine this year with facelift.
http://www.ford.com/trucks/f150/specifications/engine/
The F150 engine range stops at V8 5.0
yes, f150 engine stops at 5.0 V8 but expedition was only coming with 5.4 V8. the f150 and the expedition are based on the same chassis. no where did i mention the f150 carries a 5.4 V8
Are they abolishing d 1 child policy thingy
Shawal, they did not abolished that, but may hv many wife :-)
btw ford is moving towards the global market and hopefully we are able to enjoy more of their vehicles back here. bringing the Mustang in will give our fellow Malaysian a proper muscle car experience without having to deal with the “wrong hand drive” and MPH speedometers.
L here could mean “Lelio”.. which means impressive sound system…
Is it jsut me or the profile looks a bit like the Ssangyong Stavic, even the side windows…
The facelift is 90% similar to Hyundai Santa Fe!
Such of LSUV, diesel is preferable!
