For 2015, UMW Toyota Motor has introduced a raft of improvements across its Hilux range to keep it relevant before the next-gen model hits the road. The biggest update this time round comes courtesy of the inclusion of a new Toyota Hilux TRD Sportivo variant – applicable to the 3.0G and 2.5G double cab versions.
Customers hoping for more power will be disappointed as the TRD Sportivo treatment is surface-only – the 2.5 still pumps out 144 hp/343 Nm while the 3.0 litre variant produces 163 hp/343 Nm, both mated to four-speed auto ‘boxes. The TRD bodykit forms the gist of this new variant.
A TRD Sportivo bodykit, decals, black alloy rims, LED daytime running lights (DRL) and an optional TRD sports bar – priced at RM3,990 – on the rear of the cab complete the external upgrades on the Hilux TRD Sportivo variant.
Step inside and the TRD-themed party continues with black leather seats featuring red stitching. Also touted are “carbon-fibre cubic printing” (sounds better than ‘faux’) on the door armrests and instrument panel along with TRD carpet mats to set the mood when you’re rushing to the nearest construction site.
Lesser variants such as the normal 3.0G and 2.5G AT also benefit from a raft of upgrades. New dark grey alloy wheels, bumper-mounted LED DRLs, new combination leather upholstery plus stripes running down the side of the truck complete the new outlook. The 2.5G MT receives a new fabric design.
Apart from an additional lock for the spare tyre on all variants, the 3.0G, 2.5G AT and TRD versions receive a portable tyre pump as standard – optional on the 2.5G MT, Double Cab Standard and Single Cab. Two infotainment systems are also available as an option on the 2.5G, 3.0G and TRD variants.
With the DVD-AVX option box ticked, the usual array of a DVD player, MP3, USB, SD card, and Bluetooth connectivity along with a reverse camera are provided via a 6.1-inch colour touchscreen. The DVD-AVN option adds on the benefit of a navigation system along with Internet connectivity and voice recognition feature on a seven-inch interface.
Also new on the Double Cab variants are the inclusion of two new colours – Grey Metallic and Attitude Black – bringing the total palette count to five. Prices for the TRD Sportivo 2.5G are RM101,746.70 for non-metallic schemes while metallic options bring it up to RM102,406.70, both on-the-road (OTR) figures without insurance.
The TRD Sportivo 3.0G model, on the other hand, goes for RM109,819.50 OTR without insurance irrespective of selected paint schemes. OTR prices for the rest of the refreshed range sans insurance are as follow;
- Toyota Hilux Single Cab 2.5 MT – RM74,958.70
- Toyota Hilux Double Cab 2.5 Standard MT – RM84,538.70 (non-metallic)/RM87,722.20 (metallic)
- Toyota Hilux Double Cab 2.5G MT – RM92,256.70 (non-metallic)/RM92,916.70 (metallic)
- Toyota Hilux Double Cab 2.5G AT – RM98,824.70 (non-metallic)/RM99,484.70 (metallic)
- Toyota Hilux Double Cab 3.0G AT – RM106,897.50 (non-metallic and metallic)
All Hilux models come with a three-year/100,000 km (whichever comes first) warranty.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
I suggest stupid Kelantan MB buy Hilux so that if his house get flooded he can still do his job. People houses all gone, his house water only few inches! Only busy trying implement hudud but cannot help rakyat. And Ah Jib Gor come only to take photo! Padan muka kene Ecoli!
You are right about 1 thing: Hilux can survive the flood better than other cars, although it is not flood proof.
Get a pick up truck, you are safer in the flood. Get a Toyota pick up truck, you are safer from garages and repair shop.
The most stupidest comment ever on reviewing a four wheel…
Navara already proven in kelantan flood ( find youtube video ) how about hilux?
Sultan of Kelantan drives Hilux through the flood water.. Albeit an older one.l
Woah that’s fugly. Still gonna be a line at the dealer booking this ugly car and getting on a waiting list of 9 months like getting a baby. Same idiots are the ones who vote for stupid politicians, either BN or other, stupid people vote for stupid people, so either way Msian gov will be run by stupids. And then, they will say we are an oil-producing country so give me free petrol to pour into my almighty ugly Hilux. Its a bloody SPORTIVO some more. WOW #STYLISH.
Steal petrol money from future generations just to pour it into your ugly huge Hilux and be proud to do so and proclaim your stupidity by saying we’re an oil-producing country with unlimited petrol reserves when in reality our oil supply won’t last more than 2 more decades and its insignificant to world supply.
Toyota Fortuner and Toyota Hilux is goverment’s best friend because its thirsty like a Ford Mustang. It can carry 100 gallon of petrol!! That’s why goverment like it.
UMW should start thinking to extend the warranty element..to be at par with others..come on UMW!! Hopefully the new facelifted camry will come with 5 year warranty..
Sticker add 50HP,Black painted wheels add 100HP and RV brand add 200HP… So it produce 513 ResaleValue-HorsePower!!!!
no wonder my custom make sticker so hot sell
‘sticker make my car go faster’
Who cares, its going into the mud anyway.
Don’t be fooled by the specs, the TRD Sportivo Hilux is actually tuned to be faster than a normal Hilux. Toyota just wanted to keep it under wraps for now due to regulations in Japan. The actual specs are:
-Century Sprint under 3 seconds.
-Top speed in excess of 400 KM/h.
-Aerodynamic features reducing fuel consumption to 51 KM/L
-Ride and Handling that beats Toyota’s own GT-86
-The 4-speed Auto-box beats any CVT, DSG, TipTronic, Protronic, Gin & Tonic gearbox available from any make.
-And not forgetting the superb RV.
Don’t think, just buy. Buy it now. The waiting list is getting longer by the second.
his VNT beat twin scroll far far away… hahahha
custom make exhaust make it sound like 10ton lorry…aaaauuuuwwwww
Awesome sarcasm!!
-Also it can spit fire like Lamborghini
-Fast like a Toyota’s own Supra
-It has two 2JZ-GTE engine’s
-It can beat Nissan GT-R at drag strip under 5 second
-Can drift like Takumi’s AE86
-Can tow 20 ton truck
-Going underwater? No problem it has submarine mode
I can’t list any more but it has many untold features, come to Toyota dealerships and BUY IT NOW!!!!! See it yourself it features!
Don’t forget it is maintenance free for 10 years.
TRD just for show off only. With this Hilux to whom the driver wanna show off the batch? to monkeys in the jungle?
Agree once I cabut his Trd bumper to arb bumper.. No more DRL..
As long as its not a kimchi, it will have RV
Hilux is also a tool for kimchi used car dealer to tell the rotten cabbage owners that they are screwed
The dinosaur lives on! Other countries got 5-speed auto to improve fuel economy. Somehow in Malaysia, Hilux owners say the 4-speed is good already for acceleration, highway cruising and fuel economy.
No wonder UMW can spec their cars any way they g*dd*mn pleased. Because they know Malaysians that worship the T logo will still buy no matter what.
even it has only 4 gears, but the 4th gear is an overdrive ratio. which would do good to its economy.
Better if it got more, better tuned ratio… Helps with fuel efficiency and pulling power..
wa…trd version…encourage more road rage drivers :P
bad idea…
TRD sticker gives extra 10hp….
TRD keychain gives another 10 hp…..
Takut kan?
Sam loo dream car
My dad owns the last generation of Hilux which has the exact same engine power and torque as this one. What is the point of getting this new one? Just a facelift with no hardware upgrades at all. Worst of all, the 4 speed auto is at least 30 year old tech. OMG! That’s how Toyota makes money, facelift and their loyal customers buys them despite the museum hardware underneath.
