We’ve seen the Honda Jade before – it appeared at Shanghai 2013 as the production version of the Concept S – but only as a China-only model. Honda has since decided that the Jade is good enough for its home market, and will be introducing the MPV in Japan, where it has appeared on the company’s official website ahead of a February launch.
In Japan, the Honda Jade will be sold as a three-row, six-seater MPV (2-2-2) in hybrid form. The Chinese-market Jade is powered by a 1.8 litre i-VTEC engine, but the JDM version is hybrid only, with Honda’s Sport Hybrid i-DCD (intelligent dual-clutch drive) powertrain.
It combines a 1.5L direct-injection engine with a 29.5 PS/160 Nm lithium-ion-powered electric motor, paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Sport Hybrid i-DCD, which we have tried, is also used in the Vezel Hybrid (HR-V) and Fit Hybrid (Jazz) models.
The JDM Honda Jade gets Honda’s Sensing suite of of active safety systems, as featured in the flagship Legend and US-market CR-V facelift.
It features Collision Mitigation Braking (braking only), Road Departure Mitigation (steering wheel vibrations if stray, corrective input, braking), Lane Keeping Assist (steering assist, vibrations if stray, >65 km/h) and Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow (can come to a full stop and start off again) among other things. Doesn’t get the Legend’s Pedestrian Collision Mitigation Steering System, though.
Honda moved away from the low-roofed concept for the current Odyssey, but the Jade is pretty low slung for a people carrier, and would be a good looking successor to the Stream. The H brand is on a roll, and the Jade (if fitted with a three-seat mid row bench) would surely garner plenty of attention in our market, which is not exactly rich with mid-size MPVs now. What do you think?

What nonsense is this? Cannot understand the Chinse writing in the pix la. Pakai BM, we can understand better.
Aiyoo.. That’s not Chinese lah, it is Japanese lah… Japanese and Chinese pun don’t know to differentiate ke?
These are japanese, ok? Japanese also derived from Chinese words.
Everyone now in the world (even US, UK, South America) is learning Chinese. You better grab the chance and learn a bit.
mana yg xfaham?
kanji, hiragana, katakana?
Why they make it 6 seater by putting captain seat at 2nd row?
Or maybe this is the highest variant like Exora Prime?
dah bagitau launching in jepun.. xphm xpelah, siape kisah?
u jangan racist….kalao mcm ni…need put tamil also…
Ya la, what kind of NONSENSE is this, can’t differentiate the Chinese and Japanese writing than simply bark here…
Tutup mulut la… yang ini BM, faham tak?

Civic head…with Jazz tail.
from rear 45deg angle looks like a stretched Jazz
nice :)
Wish it could be 7 seater upon arriving Malaysia
2+3+2 is ok.
this 2+2+2, without middle “walkway”, the access to the last row is difficult.
wish-rival yes.
Nice one!! Should own it!!
The cheapest full sized MPV here is the Exora starting from Rm59k++ followed by Serena Hybrid at RM138,800 and Mazda Biante, All three has high roof but does it’s job pretty well, carrying people. Jade, being a mid sixed MPV goes againts Wish and the mysterious Eastar.
Lots of Exora around cause it’s affordable and does it’s job well.
Lots of Serena Hybrid around cause of the space (though a bit narrow), it’s roof is high and comes with a sliding door for easy access and exit and it’s the cheapest of the foreign brand… (Full sized MPV)
i tot edix replacement..
hopefully it will coming soon to Malaysia as well..
Everytime a new car model came out, many will hope it comes to Malaysia soon…
When we finally get it, the car always comes with unreasonably high price, or inferiorly speced compare to other countries.
Just look at the Honda HR-V.
So I say you can hope, but just don’t dream on it
Honda Stream successor.
first.
2nd…
hihihi…
pis yow…
As long as its not a kimchi, it will have RV
i think the 2nd row is not that practice…
Beautiful car. Basically, an MPV version of the Honda Civic.
A 1.8 engine is a bit underpowered if one likes to drive their MPVs fast. But for hauling the family safely to school/Ikea/market & back home, it should be fine. It may eventually get the new turbo DI engine (maybe a 1.5 turbo). Don’t think Honda is going to put a detuned 2.0 turbo from the Euro Civic Type R.
Later maybe performance variant introduced like Absolute for Odyssey
worthy successor to stream i must say. really gorgeous looking, and definitely the best looking mid-size japanese MPV in Malaysia, if honda does bring it in.
Since this car has Hybrid engine and what happen if it comes to Malaysia? FWD MPV converted into twin turbo?
I test drived this car in China before, modern design, good chassis, good price (same with Civic), certainly it is positioned slightly lower than Stream, not as big also, but 6 seaters sure have market in Malaysia, i see no reason not to bring this in.
It looks like a Airwave wagon successor to me, not Stream.
Insight front with Civic’s facelift rear
For sure the underpinning is from euro civic. uncanny.
