This is the Buick Avenir Concept – a big sedan with traditional American proportions – cab-rearward design, long hood, wide-hipped stance, and muscular surface treatment. Avenir is French for ‘future’, an apt name for a car that’s supposed to preview the future of the Buick brand.
The Avenir measures 5,195 mm long and 1,931 mm wide and 21 inch wheels. Under the hood is a direct injection V6 engine (likely GM’s 3.6 litre twin-turbo V6) with cylinder deactivation and stop/start technology mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox, and an all wheel drive system so additional traction can be called in as necessary.
The Avenis offers seating for four inside, and passengers will be treated to a nice interior which Buick says is inpired by nature and sea waves receding on a beach – flow seamlessly through the cabin. The motif is featured on the seats and carried through in other trim components – even the carpet, where a patterned insert for the carpet carries the motif in silk and bamboo.
There’s also a next generation Buick IntelliLink infotainment with a 12-inch touch screen, OnStar 4G LTE with Wi-Fi hotspot and wireless charging for your mobile devices.
