Jaguar isn’t the only one proclaiming the name of its new SUV at Detroit, Bentley has announced at NAIAS that its upcoming SUV will be called Bentley Bentayga, as previously speculated. Just the name, though; Crewe’s first ever off-roader will only make its debut later this year, with sales starting in 2016.
First showcased as a study in the form of the EXP 9 F Concept in 2012, Bentley says that its “sector-defining SUV” will be able to introduce the brand’s “modern British luxury to limitless destinations with an impressive combination of on and off road performance.”
The Bentayga name is from nature. Crowning the Northern Hemisphere is the Taiga, the world’s largest transcontinental snowforest. To the south, the eye-catching standalone rugged peak of the Roque Bentayga in the subtropical Canary Islands draws attention from all directions and a challenging climb rewards with spectacular panoramic views of a rich and diverse landscape.
“Bentayga is a name that reflects what we know our SUV will do better than any other car in the world – combine the best automotive luxury with outstanding performance to take the Bentley experience to new environments,” said Wolfgang Dürheimer, chairman and CEO of Bentley Motors.

Rich creamy mentega!
The name reminds me of bengay cream
I really like that name. IMO, it sounds very regal – fitting name for a car of this caliber.
