The Isuzu MU-X, a D-Max-based seven-seat SUV, is set to enter the Malaysian market sometime this year, Isuzu Malaysia COO Daisuke Ishida has told InfoKereta.com.
At this year’s Isuzu Dura Mission event in Sabah, Ishida told our sister site that our MU-X will be fully-imported (CBU) from Thailand, and that only one variant will be introduced here. He declined to divulge more details, however.
Based on the second-gen D-Max pick-up truck, the Isuzu MU-X succeeded the MU-7, which was built on the bones of the first-gen D-Max. It is on sale today in Thailand, Australia and the Philippines.
Related to the Chevrolet Trailblazer and Holden Colorado 7, the MU-X debuted in 2013 in Thailand, where it is available with 136 hp/320 Nm 2.5 litre and 177 hp/380 Nm 3.0 litre engines, both variable geometry-turbocharged diesels.
The Land of Smiles can also choose between two- and four-wheel drive, five-speed manual or five-speed auto ‘boxes. The D-Max’s Terrain Command 4WD features here – you can switch between 4×2 and 4×4 at speeds of up to 100 km/h.
Available equipment includes a seven-inch Media Solutions DVD touch-screen, eight speakers, keyless entry and start, combination leather upholstery, auto air-con and a reverse camera – we wonder how many of these we’ll get. Will our MU-X give the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the upcoming Ford Everest a run for their money?

Prefer the looks of the Trailblazer. This looks like it’s been through at least three bad facelifts.
Wait a minute, how come this looks good.
*clap clap clap…
hard to accept Isuzu brand
sometimes it’s better to keep mouth shut if you have nothing good to say. Please go read more books and do more cars related reading.
Sad people
Tough fight would b in b/w Isuzu n ford everest SUV’s in Malaysia soon.who will have excellent sales depends on active n passive safety features + price+ after sales service
Hope it can fit the shoes of Isuzu Trooper
Our family’s Isuzu Trooper is now 25 years old and still going strong. It was truly built to last. Can’t say much about those who bought the Pajero back then.
If the price tag below than 130k, then we will see a lot of it on the road especially in Sabah and Sarawak..
it is impossible to be priced under 130k. we should be grateful if the final price doesn’t exceed 160k. SUV doesn’t enjoy the “reduced tax offer” by our government, so have to pay full tax.
had the chance to ride in a MU-7 years ago in thailand, very impressed by its comfort level. sadly, it didn’t make it to malaysia until this year, where competition is definitely more intensified now than years ago.
As a Manchester United fans i’m feel so proud that even a manufacture recognize the world most successful football club by naming their car to our club.
Glory Glory Manchester United !
Manchester united – X? really? Seriously??
The MU-7 had leaf springs rear suspensions. How about the MU-X? If still leaf springs, i doubt it will give the Pajero Sport and upcoming Everest much worries in the ride and handling department. Even the new D-Max lags behind the Triton and Ranger in terms of ride and handling.
Isuzu & Hilux engine quite robust. Mitsubishi is so so only. If you ever drive one for couple of years, you will know.
nice izuzu
Good Isuzu mu x when enter Malaysia how much price?
