Remember the Renault Sport RS 01 that was unveiled last year? Of course you do, when it looks like that, and the French carmaker tells you the story of the racer’s conception in the video above. It was designed in just five months – no mean feat.
Penned by Akio Shimizu, the Renault Sport RS 01 sits on an Dallara LMP1-spec carbon monocoque, with over 500 hp and 600 Nm of torque being fed to the rear wheels by a Nissan GT-R-derived 3.8 litre twin-turbo V6, through a Sadev seven-speed sequential ‘box.
The Megane Trophy successor is set to compete in this year’s Renault Sport Trophy championship within the World Series by Renault – we can’t wait to see it perform!

This baby ass is so sexy!
I hate Nissan’s current CEO, he had to use the GTR engine on a Renault ???
The Japanese worked so hard to make the VR38DETT, and they give it to the French ?
I feel the side view shares the DNA of R8… but it’s a better overall design than R8!
What if it has road going version….SO HOT!!!
The Nissan and the Renault CEO are IIRC the same person. And Renault owns Nissan. Without Renault Nissan wouldn’t exist anyway, they would have gone bankrupt a while ago. Nissan is btw. using Renault engines too.
