After teasers were shown last week, the Nissan Sway concept has been unveiled in full at the Geneva Motor Show. The compact B-segment showcar is set to preview the next-generation March and Micra.
It’s certainly a sea change from the current ho-hum K13, isn’t it? Clad in “bluish dawn grey”, the Sway features Nissan’s latest design language seen on the new Murano and Maxima, as well as the Lannia concept from Beijing 2014. At the front sits a huge V-motion grille low down, flanked by sharp boomerang-shaped LED headlights and large air intakes.
Lines originating from the grille rise over the front wheels to meet the A-pillar, then drop downwards before picking up again towards the rear of the car. Contrasting orange cant rails and black C-pillar cutouts give an impression of a floating roof, while strong haunches and large wheels pulled to each corner provide the Sway with a broad stance. The tall rump is embellished with C-shaped tail lights and twin trapezoidal exhausts.
Open the suicide doors – there are no B-pillars obstructing access – and you’ll find an interior inspired by Tokyo 2013’s IDx concepts, with a wing-shaped dashboard incorporating twin instrument gauges, circular air vents and a large central display.
Exposed aluminium features heavily inside, showing itself in the door pulls, the flat-bottomed steering wheel and the lightweight seats upholstered in suede-like fabric. Overhead, there’s a cross-shaped brace running across the glass roof that adds to the rigidity of the car.
Aside from the upcoming March, this concept could also shape the next-generation Almera, given that both the Almera and the March are built on the same platform and share much of their components. Would a Sway sedan sway you (hah!) into buying one?

If the final product is exactly the same as the concept, I will take one.
Now, this new Nissan concept looks very stylish & special, capable of challenging the best of the other stylish Euro hatches. Hopefully the production version doesn’t sway too much form the concept design!
