Hyundai launches new Blue Link remote app for Android Wear – control your car with your watch

Blue Link Smartwatch

Previewed earlier on at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the Hyundai Blue Link smartwatch app is now available for purchase from Google’s Play Store for Android Wear. In conjunction with the firm’s cloud-based Blue Link platform, the system has been designed to facilitate remote features such as unlocking/locking the doors, starting the engine and a notable few more via the smartwatch.

Engineered to be as user-friendly as possible, the Blue Link system and its corresponding features are accessed via the simple means of tapping the desired icon on the watch or using vocal commands. By hitting the microphone symbol on the interface, owners only need to voice out orders such as “Start my car” or “Find my car” for the function to be executed.

“Now you can remote start your car with your smartphone, smartwatch, laptop, desktop or tablet. It is like being James Bond 007 or Scotty in Star Trek,” comments Frank Ferrara, executive VP of Hyundai Motor America. The list of voice-operated commands include remote engine start/stop, remote door lock/unlock, remote high beam and honk feature, a car locator as well as Hyundai Roadside and Blue Link connectivity.

The Blue Link smartwatch app has to be paired via Bluetooth to the driver’s phone with the corresponding app for the system to go online. With that done, owners have full accessibility to the features from almost anywhere in the United States of America as long as the paired cell phone has a clear Internet connection.

As for compatibility factors, the Blue Link app is said to be able to work with first- and second-generation Hyundai models which includes the 2012 Hyundai Sonata and subsequent models for the year 2013. The second-generation Blue Link platform will go hand-in-hand with the 2015 Hyundai Genesis, Sonata, Elantra GT, Veloster and Azera models.

Users of Apple products, fret not. The Blue Link app for the Apple Watch will, according to the company, be made available shortly after its release. As for the rest, smartwatch models from Samsung, Motorola, Sony and LG are touted to be compatible with the app.

Here you go the Internet of Things (IOT), machine to machine interactions (sensors data) and upload sensors data into the cloud storage system. All this information in cloud storage are access by Hyundai, what information uploaded will be important of privacy matters concern and data security. But key point of Blue link, it offer better ways improve customer services and timely, because data collected can be analyse and system automatically generate a response back to customers via mobile or wearable devices or even to car navigation system.

As human workers do make repeated mistakes, demand unproductive work for pay raise and complain of working long hours. With this technology it does not have such issues, it a tiny robot that taking control of our lives, that relate to the SCI-FI movie the “Judgement Day” and as long you are own a smartphone you already had pieces of robotics hardware of scale down robots (no arms/legs) and SKYNET (cloud system) sound creepy though.

Watch? Everyday charge the watch please!

After a year, time to change the watch too!

Typical kimchi: not reliable, subject to rapid change/update, no resale value.
