2016 Toyota Fortuner leaked: futuristic, ‘floating’ roof

Not long after posting what was allegedly a leaked photo of the 2016 Toyota Innova, FlyWheel has done the same for the 2016 Toyota Fortuner. The full-model-change brings with it a full looks change, as the Hilux-based SUV puts on a pretty futuristic dress.

Of note are slim headlamps (with projectors and DRLs, according to FlyWheel), a ‘floating roof’ effect thanks to blacked-out pillars, a lower intake that’s joined to chrome-adorned fog lamp housings and kick-up rear haunches you’ll recognise from the Corolla Altis.

Although it looks sleeker and less upright than the model we know and love, the website reports that the new Fortuner will boast more space and luxury inside, while getting new petrol and diesel engines. A source has told the website that production is set to begin in July.

Reports speculate the all-new Hilux/Fortuner/Innova trio to sit on a new ladder-frame platform that could be called Toyota New Global Architecture. There should be new engines as well. Not a bad looker, this new Fortuner, huh?

I too have just left Toyota. Cannot survive in Toyota with sales so bad. I cannot join kimchi also because I have bad mouth kimchi so long now out of jealousy.

I have now joined Parkson as bra and panties promoter. Anybody want Wacoal, Sorella, Skiva, Bee Dees, Triumph, I can give good discounts.

Please guys in this forum, forgive me for all my bad writings and bad condemnation of kimchi cars. I am truly sorry. Kinmchi cars are actually quite good, I admit.

I now look forward to my new career as an undergarments promoter.

As long as its not a kimchi, it will have RV.

If its a KIA or Ssangyong, might as well claim insurance.

This new design of upcoming Toyota models that are bound for Southeast Asian markets is a big no-no for me. Might as well get a Nissan or Mazda etc. Better luck next time, Toyota.

Let me guess. Same engines but maybe (and this is a big maybe) with a 5-speed automatic a la current Fortuner in Thailand. Don’t be surprised if there is still no VSC this time around (i would love UMW to prove me wrong though), at least until buyers make enough hoo-haa to force UMW to equip it. Prices? If you need to ask, you can’t afford it.

So many sorhai tailangongs has been shown the Hilux today. That’s why they are venting out their frustration. Forgive them as they have lost more than 1/2 the value of their rotten cabbage

5 speed auto? Still didn’t meet performance regulation. I need 6 speed, with TCS and VSC. Even Fortuner in South America already fitted with those features since 2012, and they gave a V6 engine option. UMW, why you didn’t learn that?

I’ve read a Thai magazine that also spied this car, but with better quality image. Mostly people like the front end, but still not everyone’s taste. Toyota must fire their designers. Hire Pininfarina or Giugiaro designers. Kimchi even have hired Pininfarina for 2001 Hyundai Matrix. I’m waiting for interior spy.

Eh, Sam Loo fired? How about your son’s Proton installment?
