The BMW Team RLL faction has revealed two of its race-prepped BMW Z4 GTLM race cars at the 2015 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. What makes this particular unveiling special, though, is the livery chosen to adorn the pair that are slated to compete at the 12-hour Sebring endurance race this March 21.
To the uninitiated, this particular scheme mirrors the exact same livery as that of the legendary BMW 3.0 CSL race car from the 70s – more specifically, 1975. To further commemorate the 40th anniversary of the CSL’s win at Sebring, both the original race car and the Z4 GTLM were exhibited alongside one another.
As part of the momentous occasion, the original lineup of drivers (Brian Redman, Sam Posey and Hans-Joachim Stuck) who piloted the No.25 3.0 CSL race car to victory were on hand at the presentation. Along with the drivers, Jochen Neerpasch, then managing director of BMW Motorsport, and Jens Marquardt, who currently helms the division, were present.
