Renault adds dCi 110 engine to Captur range – 27 km/l

Renault has added a new diesel engine to its Captur range in the UK. The dCi 110 oil burner, available in mid-to-high spec Captur models, is capable of returning up to 27 km/l in the NEDC combined cycle.

The Euro 6-compliant 1.5 litre turbodiesel makes 110 hp and 260 Nm of torque, 20 hp and 40 Nm over the dCi 90 unit, while returning the above-mentioned FC and 98 g/km CO2 emissions, thanks in part to stop-start tech. The low emissions means that the Captur dCi 110 enjoys free road tax in the UK.

The new engine will be available to order on Dynamique, Dynamique S and Signature versions of the crossover from April, with prices starting at £17,695 (RM96,533) for the Captur Dynamique dCi 110.

The Captur has been a hit for Renault. The Clio-based car was the best-selling B-segment SUV in Europe in 2014, with 165,130 units sold in the continent. As at the end of 2014, 306,829 Capturs have been produced globally since the model’s launch. The French brand will be hoping that its Kadjar C-segment SUV, freshly unveiled at Geneva 2015, will similarly capture the imagination of the car-buying public.
