Following the confirmation of the new rates recently announced by the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD), all drivers of budget and Teksi1Malaysia taxis have been urged to have their recalibrated meters inspected at 10 participating Puspakom outlets nationwide.
Taxi drivers are advised to make an appointment with Puspakom no later than one month after having their meters adjusted. They are not required to do so on the same day following recalibration, however. A fee of RM50 will be charged for the inspection with no additional charge incurred should there be a need for a second round of assessment.
In order to facilitate the increased capacity, Puspakom has extended its operational hours at the relevant centres from March 19 to 31. Taxi drivers are advised to check in at Puspakom after 6 pm to avoid delays. Further information on the involved Puspakom centres and its corresponding business hours are as follow.

The devil of mine just pointed at taxi driver and laughed, serves you right.
The angel of mine says, karma that some of you bullied your passanger so long that now someone upper bullies you.
Agree, the reason for them not to use meters because those meters are calibrated in transparent manner, with SIRIM presence etc., no way for them to cheat for higher fare is they use meters.
It is all money… You think government will really take care of the rakyat? Think again.
Proton is one good hell example to rip people off. Because of their junk cars, foreign cars are so expensive in Malaysia.
Ohh I see.. How about UMW? They are selling tin kosong cars too and treat Malaysians’ life cheaply. Proton at least give ESP standard across all range of Iriz.
Eh please la.. continue to sell the unsold cars in your Toyota showroom. shoo shoo… have fun playing with the exhaust too ya.
So one crony company recalibrate meter, while another crony company inspect, and another to tamper with it.
Wow. So this is how the money flows these days.
OMG, you are so negative man, recalibrate is wrong, inspect is wrong, temper of course is wrong.
why operate until almost midnight?
Simple… profit overnight.
For convenience of customers perhaps? Since most taxi drivers earn their living from 8 am – 5 pm.
Why even bother, just scrap the meter and charge according to whatever fees they like.
the root of the problem is not taxi drivers overcharging. the problem lies with 1 company/person getting all the taxi license and then licensing out to the taxi drivers at exorbitant price that comes with the car. As a result the taxi driver has no choice but to charge higher to just breakeven their cost of paying the taxi license. It’s little wonder then uber can charge at lower rates

These taxi drivers are not going to send their cars and pay up just to be re-calibrated. Puspakom should have made this madatory to all taxis. Our government are making a fool of themselves.
Puspakom is the appointed party to do inspection, policy making is not the authority of puspakom.
Shouldn’t it be time that there be another accredited body to conduct inspections as well? PUSPAKOM seems to be a monopoly.
Another recognised body can provide check and balance, 2nd opinion, increased competition, consumer choice, combat corruption etc.
Puspakom has been monopolying this business for years, government won’t allow another player… Somebody live hood at stakes… Must protect em…
I suggest petrol station pump also need to be calibrated yearly by either sirim or their assigned agents.
Yearly!
Next time you go pump, please check the pump calibration sticker expiry date by sirim, you will be amazed….
all these are just blardy wayang kulit…..SPAD do ONE thing, Puspakom do ONE thing, taxi drivers do another ONE thing.
ONE thing for sure, the real losers (and victims) will always be CONSUMERS.
Nice going…BN govt and their cronies.
