GST: Subaru updates prices, decrease of up to RM12k

Subaru WRX STI 44

Motor Image Malaysia has released its post-GST price list for its lineup of Subaru models. A closer look at the revised list will reveal the absence of the Legacy model which has been sold out – Motor Image has confirmed that there are no plans to restock units of the Legacy.

Note that the prices listed here do NOT factor in road tax figures, insurance and hire purchase claim fee(s). The range now starts of at RM108,120 for the Subaru XV Premium – a drop of RM230 from the original figure of RM108,350. Subaru’s halo performance car, the WRX STI, is now priced at RM267,120.

Perhaps the biggest decline can be seen in the updated price for the Subaru BRZ – a new tag of RM227,900 indicates a saving of RM12,300 (a 5.12% reduction) for the rear-wheel driven sports coupe.

Based on what I heard, they will not be bringing in the new Legacy. But will bring in the new Outback, which is literally a raised Legacy wagon.

Tempting price indeed for the BRZ.

Please get your fact right before you even start bashing. They have 3 air bag (front driver, driver knee and front passenger). They also have ABS and EBD.

If you dont know about Subaru XV go study and then make a comment

  • The xv was launch overpriced to begin with, has got the best chassis but exterior/interior lacking refinement compared competitors. Truly solid and will go offroad like a champ, truly appreciated amongst farmers in australia and the us..

brz price deduction up to rm12k because of nobody wanna buy it. Its not because of GST and this car is cbu not ckd.

  • The first one didn’t mention without insurance. Though we all know GST has been imposed to the insurance company which later we’ll see the price skyrocketed to the moon and back to their grave.

The BRZ in Malaysia is very overprice. In Philippines it’s only cost about RM160k (PHP1,928,000). http://www.motorimage.com.sg/PH/buying/info/files/pricelist.pdf That’s about RM80k in differences!!! I saw there are many BRZ there and not in Malaysia.

MI has released new car price and the effective date is 1-April-2015. The Premium net car price is RM104K plus 6% GST which will be RM110240.00 (without insurance), Paul Tan reported the car price with GST (without insurance) for Premium is RM108120.00. The Sport & STI version is now 10K & 17K extra from Premium compare to previous which was 2K & 10K, seem to be price increase instead of reduction.

Thinking of buying the Subaru XV .
    Question
    1) Is the high engine oil consumption for the Boxer engine even for the new car ,true ? Court case in USA ,Subaru being sued for excessive engine oil consumption for 2011-2014 models.
