Mazda 3 CKD on display at Mid Valley from April 8-12

Mazda Malaysia has announced on its Facebook page that the yet-to-launch locally-assembled (CKD) Mazda 3 will be on display at Mid Valley Megamall from tomorrow until the end of the week (April 8-12). You’ll also be able to see it at Queensbay Mall, Penang (April 9-12), KSL City, Johor (April 10-12) and Setia City Mall, Selangor (April 15-19).

Three CKD Mazda 3 variants will be available – GL Sedan (RM106,105), high-spec Sedan (RM121,105) and mid-spec Hatchback (RM121,105), all with 2.0 litre engines. These prices were revealed by Mazda 3S & Tribos Application Centre on Facebook, and are OTR with GST, before insurance. In comparison, the CBU 2.0 Sedan cost RM139k at launch; now reduced to RM135k post-GST.

The GL Sedan is the base CKD Mazda 3. It gets 205/60 R16 alloys, halogen projector headlamps, fog lamps, side mirror indicators, fabric seats, manual air-con, i-Stop (stop/start), MZD Connect, ABS/EBD/BA, DSC and six airbags.

The high-spec Sedan has all the CBU car has (215/45 R18 alloys, auto bi-xenon headlamps with AFS, LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, auto single-zone air-con, navigation, shift paddles, keyless entry and start), except for only two things: i-Eloop regenerative braking and a sunroof.

But there’s so much gained, including a power-adjustable driver’s seat, auto wipers, cruise control, auto dimming rear-view mirror, head-up display, reverse camera and leather seats (these were actually added to the CBU car at some point).

And that’s not all – the high-spec Sedan now boasts features under the i-Activsense active safety umbrella. You get High Beam Control, Smart City Brake System (autonomous braking, 4-30 km/h), Rear Vehicle Monitoring and Lane Departure Warning.

The mid-spec Hatchback’s kit list is somewhat in the middle – it gets the high-spec Sedan’s 18-inch alloys, auto air-con, navigation, shift paddles, auto bi-xenons, LED DRLs and tail lamps, AFS and keyless entry and start, but shares fabric seats and manual wipers with the GL Sedan.

All that’s left is for everything to be made official tomorrow!

Finally…. Typo error in price list? GL only comes with 185/60 R16? so narrow? Hatchback looks good but not worth the price if vs high spec sedan. No Auto headlamp/auto wiper/leather seat/powerseat/cruisecontrol/HBC/LDW/SCBS/RVMI/HUD/etc… very long list…

You won’t go wrong with sushi cars. But Mazda has no RV compared to Toyota. Your call.

But sales wise Honda Civic is way better than Mazda-3.
Civic is the best selling mid-size sedan.

        • That’s a dying market in Malaysia.. 120k+ range.. most would just go for HRV type of cars.

The 100k+ C segment is becoming an enthusiast only zone.

Both sedan variants look like pretty good value for money.. I do expect the cheaper one to come with smaller 1.5L engine, and priced below RM100k, but then it retained 2.0L engine from its higher siblings.. Good job Mazda!

If that pricetag is correct and it has all of the specs mentioned, then this would be a great bargain. Sadly, the interior space is pretty tight compared to Toyota Altis & Honda Civic. Win some, lose some.

I cannot fathom why they have to remove some of the features off the hatchback. I’d get that over the top-end sedan in a heartbeat as it doesn’t look that awkward compared to the latter. But anyways, it’s a nicely equipped car for its price. This’ll dreach Toyota in cold sweats for sure.

  • The high Spec one is worth to take. Just wait for a few months, Sometimes they’ll will give you discount than it will be less than 120K.

Just to add, only 3 colors available for CKD. Aluminum, white and grey. Soul red has been taken off the list :( I was so looking for to it after booking it last Nov. Oh well

CKD comes only in white, grey and aluminum. Soul red is off the list. Oh well, been on the waiting list since last Nov. Only been told mid Jan that I got to wait for the CBU launching since not getting more imported from Japan and found out last weekend color option has changed. Terrible sales entrepreneurs.
