Nissan Lannia – production sedan designed for the Chinese market to debut at Auto Shanghai 2015

Initially previewed as the Nissan Friend-ME concept in 2013 and in sedan form as the Lannia concept (pictured) a year later, the production version of the Nissan Lannia has now been scheduled to make an appearance at the upcoming Auto Shanghai 2015, set to take place at the tail end of this month.

The project, described as one that is “led by Chinese for (the) Chinese” will see the development of the first mid-size sedan created specifically for the youth of China. Styling wise, the Nissan Lannia is said to have been “inspired by the rising young Chinese generation, who are seen as energetic trendsetters with new values and aspirations.”

Using the concept version as a base, the Lannia relies heavily on a mixture of edges and creases for its bodywork while the front end adopts the marque’s trademark V-motion grille design and “boomerang-shaped” head lamps – a look executed rather nicely on the 2016 Nissan Maxima.

Further back, a ‘floating roof’ element helps to add visual drama along with the addition of stylised tail lamps. Whether or not these cues will carry over remains to be seen. As for powertrain options, nothing concrete has been confirmed but expect a range of petrol mills to be mated to Nissan’s CVT gearbox. Watch this space.

“Let’s inject some Kodo, soul of motion into it!”
“But sir… we are not Maz…”

Actually Nissan is doing well globally. It is now no. 2 in the US behind Toyota for passenger cars. That effectively means Honda has dropped to third. Well about Mazda .. they are not even in the top 10.

Only in Malaysia has Nissan failed miserably. Not because of their cars, but its their dealer. Tan Ching refused to bring good models and even the better Nissan’s come with lower specs so Uncle Tan can make more money to bring to his grave. What a failure Tan Chong is. Nissan, please revove Tan Chong dealership in Malaysia and please come direct.

It doesn’t matter if you bring in Lannia or Lan…w, if you give Malaysians good cars with good specs for reasonable prices, you too can achieve top position in terms of sales. Please do not be fooled by the 2013 sales figures, as they were one-off because Honda and Toyota were still selling old City’s and Vios, when the new Nissan Almera was launched. Now you get to see how poor Nissan sales in Malaysia actually is, when everyone has launched their new B, C and D category cars. So it is confirmed the, Tan Chong has failed! Nissan, please come in direct.

The front face of the Lannia is much better designed than the recently launched Maxima, especially on the headlamp and front grille..

i still think the hatchback Friend-Me looks better than the sedan one. The sedan is a bit afterthought for me, especially the rear design.
