Mercedes-Benz C200 Avantgarde CKD ad surfaces

w205-ckd-oto-ad

The arrival of the W205 Mercedes-Benz C-Class CKD version is nigh, judging by new ads posted on our sister classified site, oto.my. Specifically, said ad portrays the W205 Mercedes-Benz C 200 Avantgarde – one of two locally-assembled versions that will go on sale, the other being the C 250 Exclusive. The current CBU range has the above two and a sporty C 250 AMG Line.

As you can see, the ad discloses the CKD car’s price. At RM269,888, on-the-road without insurance and inclusive of GST, the figure tallies up with the one listed earlier by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia for the Returning Expert Programme.

Under the bonnet, things remain the same with a 2.0 litre, turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine pumping out 184 hp and 300 Nm of torque in the C 200 Avantgarde while the same mill in the C 250 Exclusive is tuned to produce 211 hp and 350 Nm instead. Both models are equipped with a seven-speed 7G-Tronic Plus automatic transmission which sends power to the rear wheels.

As for kit count, the ad lists features that would familiar to owners of the CBU models such as the Agility Select Switch which toggles the the steering weight, throttle response and transmission algorithms. Elsewhere, Collision Prevention Assist, Audio 20 CD entertainment system, power-adjustable front seats and LED Ambient Lighting along with Active Parking Assist, among other things.

Click on the spec sheet above for the full list of kit and check out the ad on oto.my.

    • you mean Merc, BMW and Audi has no RV and quality !???

You are crazy! completely out of your mind to make such a remark that Japanese “Toy” car offers better QUALITY than German Engineering.

You need to take a break mate. Go for some hiking, clear your mind, the earlier the better!

Toyota better in terms of good “Regret Value”. Camry offers ‘junk car’ quality with Mercedes selling price (Even saw in Mudah.my few buyers let go their ‘jamban junk’ just after few months of usage probably due to feel very regret and very hailat with their car everyday).

Even Resale Value for Camry are among the worst (worse than Kimchi and Protong cars), brand new RM180k (RM160k for 2015 stock clearance price before current facelift comes), nearly one year can fetch just RM98k for 2014 Camry 2.5V, 45 percent off in just one year (2.0 even worse, maybe just RM80k – RM85k in one year usage).

        • I can confirm this. I just bought a 2014 Camry 2.5V registered in July for RM100k. I am a happy buyer cause I just saved RM80k and still got 2 years plus warranty intact. Accident free. Done only 26,000KM

The previous C Class (W204) facelift model sells for RM262k (C 200 -elegance), RM272k (C200-avantgarde) & RM295k (C250 – avantgarde. The price increase is about RM7k for a complete new model which quite competitive. The RM240k probably refers to C180 model which was not well received then. You are comparing with a different base model which is notquite correct.

Still quite expensive for a CKD model. The C200 competes with the Lexus IS base model, which is slightly cheaper at RM266k AND is CBU from Japan. The equally CKD BMW 320i is even cheaper at RM242k.

Having said that, I expect to see many of the CKD C Class on the roads here. Haha. That Mercedes badge has a mysterious effect which makes grown men want to buy their cars at all costs.

I thought the CBU F30 also got quality issues like a rear lamp that can literally come off.

    • You sure, brah?
I thought the choice of materials are the same regardless of CBU or CKD. I think you should scrutinize the quality of workers at the assembly line and QC levels instead. No?
