VIDEO: Lexus’ Dance of F is vehicular tango redefined

While the Lexus LFA may no longer be with us, having been discontinued in 2012, its maker has decided to release a video of the V10-engined spectacle drifting around the Fuji Speedway accompanied by a pair of road-going Lexus RC F models as well as the RC F GT3 and RC F GT500 racers.

Dubbed the ‘Dance of F’, the three minute-long video shows the LFA and its partners swerve, spin and drift their way around the iconic circuit. Set to classical music, the entire video is pretty much a masterclass in car control with one particular scene showing the LFA drift between a window comprised of its dance partners.

In case you’ve forgotten, the LFA is motivated by a naturally-aspirated 4.8 litre V10 producing 552 hp and 480 Nm of torque, which may seem pedestrian for a limited-edition supercar – especially when placed next to the 5.0 litre V8 from the RC F which pumps out 467 hp and 526 Nm of torque.

However, the Lexus LFA was more than just a conglomeration of numbers. It represented a major technological leap for the Japanese manufacturer, allowing much of the technology and knowhow gained from project to filter down into its road cars. It certainly helped that the car was as much of a subjective high as it was an objective one.

Fancy one for yourself? A listing on our sister classified site, oto.my, has revealed a sole unit on sale in Malaysia for a princely sum of over RM2 million. Then again, to be one of only 500 in the world to own the LFA, it may seem, in a warped way, like the bargain of the century.
