2016 Honda Civic patent images leaked online

The tenth-generation Honda Civic has been leaked online! In the form of patent images from civicx.com, that is. Initially previewed in show car form at the 2015 New York International Auto Show (2015 NYIAS), the Honda Civic Concept displayed what was perhaps the most eye-catching set of lines ever to grace a Civic’s body, along with a matching, attention-seeking neon green paint scheme.

So while the patent sketches aren’t exactly the most detailed shots of the production Civic, they do provide notable hints on what to expect with the new car when it goes on sale in the United States during the third quarter of this year. Only the sedan and coupe models were leaked – the five-door hatch remains elusive.

Beginning with the coupe body style, it looks like several cues have made the transition over from the Civic Concept, the trademark boomerang-style taillights being one of them. Traces of the concept car’s front fascia appear to have been carried over as well, albeit losing the aggressive air intake design. What’s missing this time round is the rear spoiler – which could be featured on the sportier Si trim.

As for the sedan, things are a lot less striking as the interconnected taillights are no longer featured on this body style. Aside from the obvious addition of extra doors, the Civic sedan appears to have also followed suit with the concept’s front end design.

Under the bonnet, not much is known except for the fact that the new Honda Civic will be the first model in the United States to sport a 1.5 litre, turbocharged VTEC engine from the Japanese carmaker’s Earth Dreams Technology umbrella. A short-shifting, six-speed manual gearbox and a CVT are touted.

Safety kit on the new Civic includes the Honda Sensing platform which features Lane Departure and Forward Collision Warning along with Adaptive Cruise Control, Honda LaneWatch and a plethora of active and passive safety equipment. More details are expected to be divulged as the launch date approaches.

While the patent images here reveal the US-spec vehicle, keep in mind that this new Civic will, in turn, preview the ASEAN-spec model. Watch this space.

Don’t forget, the aunty & uncle also want to buy cars. Thankfully, there’s a carmaker that understands their needs :) Anyways, I think the current Altis is not too bad looking. Way better than the Camry.

Are you nuts? Toyota still have the GT86 for initial-D wannabe. “Longkang-drift” don’t need turbo engine la

Who needs spyshots anymore now that you can see the patents showing diagrams of the car design in detail. Anyways, looks exactly like the spyshots

    http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2014/12/2016-honda-civic-spied-testing-once-again-.html

So, that confirms that the new Civic had started road testing last year. Can only mean a launch is imminent – in North America anyway.

Looks wise difficult to tell from diagrams, but i think it will look better in the metal. It does remind me a bit of the China only Honda Spirior.

Honda has opted for the more sporty & contemporary sloping roofline & high shoulder line style that almost everyone is doing now – except for current Hondas and Subarus. Looks cool, but makes it a bit difficult to come in and out of the car if you are tall.

Frankly, it looks so much nicer than the current 9th-gen Civic. The previous 8th gen was revolutionary, and Honda seems to regain its momentum following huge criticism of the current Civic. Several points to ponder:
    1. Headlights that sweep upwards (cues from HRV) and striking tail lights design (kinda Volvo-ish).
    2. Longer wheelbase means near D-segment legroom. Honda have done superbly in maximizing rear passenger area (City & Accord).
    3. Hopefully the interior does not disappoint. Current one is built using hard plastics, matte silver trim and dull grey finishing. The B-segment HRV & City Vspec are nicely with fit with plenty of soft touch plastics & classy chrome touches.

The upcoming all new Civic seems follow their current Jazz styling… man, how difficult to slightly modify from the current Accord. This will guarantee good sales. If the 2016 Civic come out wearing such face, sales guarantee suffer. Wait, the car in front is a Ah Beng Honda Civic.

The front looks good. Way better than the recent gen. But the back is so disappointing. The 8th gen covic is still an eye catcher. Especially when modified by the mat mat modifier. Bonda tipah love the mat modifier.
