Volvo V60 facelift spotted in Malaysia – coming soon?

Volvo_V60_facelift_Malaysia_01

Reader Ihsan Fadhli has sent in these pics of a facelifted Volvo V60 in Malaysia – the updated S60 estate is far from a new car, having taken the world stage over two years ago, but it’s yet to be launched in Malaysia.

Its sighting on our soil suggests that it won’t be long before it joins the S60 and XC60 facelifts here. The tailgate badge reads T4F (Flexfuel), a variant available in Thailand, so it wouldn’t be unreasonable to assume this one’s meant for our northern neighbour.

Those 17-inch Sadia alloys seem familiar to you? That’s because our S60 facelift has them too. The rear features new LED tail lamps and twin circular tailpipes that sit within a mildly-revised rear bumper.

Like the S60 and XC60 facelifts, the V60 gets a more sharply-creased bonnet, more angular headlamps, a wider grille that loses the previous chrome surround and sleeker lower intakes. Gone are the driving lights flanking the grille of the old car, replaced by LED daytime running lights mounted lower down on the bumper.

Unlike our XC60 facelift, our S60 facelift doesn’t get the new Drive-E engines, making do instead with the existing 1.6 litre T4 and 2.0 litre T5 GTDi four-cylinder motors. Maybe the same fate awaits our V60 facelift.

Like on our S60, we expect the T5 variant to get the Digital Instrument Cluster and eight-inch Adaptive Digital Display; also the same enhanced safety aids, which include City Safety and Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert (S60 T5 additionally gets Pedestrian Detection, Cyclist Detection and Road Sign Information).

put aside the geely ownership. I believe they just pour in the capital and let Volvo decide on the development of the car.

Just like Jaguar/Land Rover… Rattan Tata and his team gives total freedom to the designers/engineers on what to make, how to make all new models.

to the extent of asking Victoria Beckham to consult on making the evoque.

Somehow I feel the circular tailpipes look a bit… odd la. I mean, what if they made them in a bit rectangular instead. May look quite interesting.

  • it is obvious that Same L0rrrr is a mentally retarded idiot and kept misleading that all the parts of volvo is made in China. Show us the proof? Volvo is protected by Sweden government although it is owned by Geely and it is still fully Swedish design and made in Sweden.
it s inevitable that some of the assembly is done in other country just like our CKD car. can we say that car assembled in malaysia like BMW is made in Malaysia?

It’s now more Swedish than ever, the Chinese really give freedom to Volvo unlike Ford days.

The irony: Volvo’s Drive-E powertrain uses Aisin 8-speed auto. Even Lexus, the flagship of Toyota brand, is too stingy to give us that, only giving 6-speed in the NX.

      By Sam Lorr’s logic,

      Everything Volvo = China
      Volvo gearbox = China
      Volvo gearbox = Toyota
      Toyota = China

      lel. Haters gonna hate.

actually, anything assembled in a country is technically made in that country. its just certain laws in malaysia which considers cars to be “assembled” to protect dr.m’s cash cow

Please la Federal Auto, don’t be stupid.

A check on Volvo Thailand page shows their facelift S60 comes with Drive-E.

So throw away that Ford engine and fit in the Drive-E already.

Took them long enough to intro this here possibly due to the low number of sales so they’re taking their own sweet time and by the time this actually launches here the world would have gotten their hands on the next gen V60 lol

I had a business partner from China, when he saw me drive VV, his first comment say this car now own by China, as no single brand at the moment want to associate with china make as quality or status….. I suddenly feel a little low class..;-) ,
VV is excellent car ,you will like it …china own somehow rather had some negative impact to the brand, at least to those play out by china product like samelorrr, probably samelorr play out by china gal lor…making such sweeping statement …

Volvo make great cars. The safety features are unparalel in many ways. The characteristic of a driver is reflected in the car he or she drives. The Volvo driver values the comfort and safety of his life and the lives of his passengers.
