2016 Nissan GT-R 45th Anniversary Gold Edition

More photos of the limited-run 2016 Nissan GT-R 45th Anniversary Gold Edition have been released. As far as GT-Rs go, this one’s quite special, as only 45 units will ever be made, globally.

Based on the Premium version of the 2016 Nissan GT-R, the 45th Anniversary Gold Edition pays homage to the long standing high performance GT-R heritage. The car comes in Silica Brass paintjob – a special colour last seen on the R34 Skyline GT-R M-Spec back in 2001. A special gold-coloured VIN plate is placed in the engine bay, along with a special commemorative plaque on the interior’s centre console.

The 2016 GT-R is powered by the same 3.8 litre VR38DETT twin-turbo V6 that is found on the base premium model that pushes out 550 hp and 630 Nm of torque. So folks, this one is lightning quick and super rare. What’s not to like?

While it’s no doubt that the current GT-R is a giant killing machine capable of eating European mid-range supercars for breakfast of its time, – it’s due for replacement already and by next year it’s almost 10 years old in design. Come on Nissan , we want to see the all-new (Skyline name should make a comeback!) GT-R as well as successors to the famous 300ZX, Silvia and Pulsar GTi-R!

The R35 will live on as the supercar that moved the benchmark posts wider that expected. Of course by now the 991 911 Turbo S beats it but this platform is as good as what it could get for Nissan.

I hope they can reduce the weight further for its successor and make high speed cornering less muted. I hope i get to sample the NISMO version.

  • Love it or hate it, but the gtr is the best car in the world. I saw road and track drag race where only a million dollar mclaren and a lambo just beat it, vey sad overpriced supercars when a car of this price made by nissan is right on there exhauat pipes.
