SPIED: Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe captured again

The good people at Affalterbach seem pretty hard at work, what with spyshots of the C-Class Coupe and its fire-breathing twin, the C 63 AMG Coupe, circling round the Internet lately. Now, it would appear that development of C 63 AMG Coupe is well on schedule as another fresh batch of spyshots have emerged.

Sadly, those hoping for more skin will be disappointed to find out that this particular prototype is still wrapped up in copious amounts of camouflage. With that said, no amount of camouflage can mask the trademark AMG styling cues that adorn this mule’s body. The more aggressive lower front bumper, chunkier wheel arches and quad tailpipes all combine to give its identity away.

A closer look at some of the profile shots even reveal a more hardcore brake setup, replete with slotted and drilled discs – it’s a no-brainer then that this, indeed, the full-fat AMG version. While the rear end of the car remains taped up with camo’, one can likely tell from its taillight assembly that we’re looking at a mirror image of the S-Class Coupe‘s rear end, complete with slim rear lamps and all.

As is the case with its sedan and wagon sibling, the C 63 AMG Coupe will, most definitely, come powered by a 4.0 litre biturbo V8 engine with 476 PS from 5,500 to 6,250 rpm and 650 Nm from 1,750 to 4,500 rpm. Sending all that power to the rear wheels is AMG’s SPEEDSHIFT MCT seven-speed auto gearbox. For daredevils, there’s a ‘S’ variant that nudges power up to 510 PS/700 Nm of torque.

Also on the cards is a convertible version that would be the perfect answer to the BMW M4 Convertible. It’s already no secret that a vanilla drop-top variant will sit alongside the C-Class Coupe, so expect Mercedes-AMG to offer an extreme hairdryer version – only difference is that the Merc will adopt a canvas roof setup.

While nothing concrete has been mentioned regarding its full reveal, rumour has it that the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show could be the primary candidate to play host to the unveiling of the C-Class Coupe – whether or not its terrible twin decides to make an appearance is another matter.
