The 2015 DS3 – without a Citroen badge, now that the Different Spirit line-up has been declared as a separate sub-brand – has finally gained a proper six-speed automatic gearbox. About bloody time, isn’t it?
In most European market, the new Aisin-sourced EAT6 ‘box with QuickShift (already in use in the new Peugeot 308) is offered alongside the 1.2 litre three-cylinder PureTech 110 engine. The combo is claimed to have a combined fuel figure of 4.7 litres per 100 km and CO2 emissions of 108 g/km (28% better than the old DS3 VTi 120 automatic).
The six-speeder effectively takes over from the current model’s ageing four-speed automatic transmission, which is shared with the Peugeot 208 VTi. A five-speed Efficient Tronic Gearbox (ETG) automated manual, itself an improved version of the old EGS ‘box, still exists in the DS3 range, paired to the naturally-aspirated PureTech e-VTi 82 engine.
