New Peugeot 408 Sedan seen in Cameron Highlands!

peugeot-408-spied-malaysia-1

The new Peugeot 408 Sedan has been spotted in Cameron Highlands and on the North-South Highway near Tapah heading north, presumably on the way up. We thank Denzel Hoong and Wan Mohd Faizal for the snaps – keep ’em coming!

We’re told the vehicle is left-hand drive – not surprising given the model’s Chinese-market disposition. The car is likely here for testing purposes – that’s a Kedah trade plate, and Peugeots are locally-assembled (CKD) in Gurun, Kedah, so could the new 408 be CKD, just like the current car?

It was revealed to us in March that the new 308-based sedan could launch sometime in the second half this year. Under the bonnet should sit a direct-injected 1.6 litre THP engine – China also gets 1.2 litre e-THP and 1.8 litre CVVT mills.

    Sweet!
Hope the car is cheaper than the 308 hatchback while retaining its safety features.
Is the wheelbase longer than the hatchback?

Preve is C segment and 3rd most expensive Proton car, and you compare it with Toyota B segment and cheapest Toyota car? lol

The core question is: Why people rather buying our Vios than your Preve??????

A Proton, is still a Proton after all. Enough said.

Design-wise, the new Pug 408 sedan is far classier than the Nissan (Sylphy). Reliability should also not be far off the Japanese cars.

the interior really shows the facelifted 508 has a dated interior, especially the dashboard

i came across this one last night 7.30pm took the right turn off Gurun hiway exit, possibly to the Naza assembly plant. The brightness of the white light (LED?) just immensely nice, however the backlight ala the nissan syplhy kinda turn off a bit

price it right and i think its a winner

Front looks like the previous gen Camry, while back looks like the current gen Sylphy

Have the continental taken a step back in their design language and copying the Japs?

Now only you guys are drooling over a China car with a french badge. Hope the gearbox is Aisin made like the 308 THP. The PSA AL range of gearboxes start giving problems after a few years.

    Paultan SOP:
    1. Release spyshot/leaked image of dull, non-marketable car
    2. Readers who only have seen Proton and Perodua their whole lives go ga-ga
    3. Start complaining how expensive the dull boring model (DBM) is
    4. Someone starts about how great Plotong/Pelolua is.
    5. ToHonSan disciples start raving about resale value
    6. Hipster starts about how great their unknown DBM from France/Italy/India is compared to everything in Msia
    7. Obligatory gomen commen – first pro, then anti backlash
    8. R-r-r-r-repeat!

I would not advise to go for this model. Reason being this car is created just for the emerging market like China and SEAs countries. What does that mean ? It means those Europeans don’t even have this in their countries and they just want to create something that we all think is better because of the badge and brand, and sell it to our market for more profit. It feels like we are always being given those unwanted products, don’t even mention about safety features of certain brands offered here. I understand the safety features are quite good for this car but still, it’s a model that those westerneners never want and push to our market.
