As intimated in our earlier report, the Renault Clio GT 120 EDC is set to join the French brand’s model lineup in Malaysia sometime in the third quarter of the year – ahead of its arrival, an ad for it has been spotted on oto.my, offering an indicative price of RM120,000 for the sporty hatchback.
The Clio GT 120 EDC, which will sit below the range-topping Clio Renaultsport 200 EDC here, is powered by a 1.2 litre turbocharged engine offering 120 hp and 190 Nm of torque, and the mill is paired with a six-speed EDC dual clutch transmission with paddle shifters. Performance numbers include a 0-100 km/h time of 9.9 seconds.
Developed by Renaultsport, the GT Line offering bears RS design cues all over the exterior – elements include GT-specific front and rear bumpers and a rear lip spoiler as well as side sills, offset LED daytime running lights, twin chrome exhaust tailpipes and GT badging.
The interior, meanwhile, features dark carbon GT upholstery, and trim includes chrome and gloss black bits, Renaultsport seats, a GT leather steering wheel, anthracite surrounds for the air vents and aluminium-capped pedals.
The Clio GT 120 EDC comes equipped with a Sport Chassis, and its dampers are 40% stiffer than a regular Clio’s. Equipment includes the company’s R.S. Drive, which offers two driving modes – Normal and Sport. The latter sharpens the car’s responses by tweaking engine and gearbox mapping, ESC stability control settings as well as steering feel and throttle response.

RM 120K is a bit too steep for a warm hatch? Sub RM 100K is more like it..
no even a warm hatch. Just a normal hatch. This is kinda like the old 308 VTi. I’m guessing this is CBU so the price kinda makes sense.
since when, Renault cars looks more like Nissans while Nissan cars looks more like Renaults..?
Cause Nissan and Renault is under the same boss,of course the design got some similarity …
Put the price aside, why would ppl buy this Clio GT over Fiesta Ecoboost?
Lets discuss….
Hard to say without knowing the kit included. For now we know this has a stiffer chasis than the EcoBoost, it has a full touchscreen MMI & if the gearbox is anything like he one from the RS it’s definitely far superior than the Fiesta’s dualcrap gearbox.
Oh and for me this is better looking than the EcoBoost mainly because it doesn’t have ridiculous looking bodykit & stickers on the door
Surprise surprise. The fiesta and Clio gearbox are both dry clutch dct by getrag
Would I buy a Clio GT over the EcoBoost Fiesta?
In short, yes. Have driven a Clio GT before overseas, same setup as this one. As a car, besides the smallish back seat (can’t compare to the Jazz), it is fantastic. Ride is just nice even on crappy roads, the TCe is good, not set you pants on faiyaaaaah TSI, but impressive enough. Very linear. The transmission too is impressive, considering it is French, the EDC is much nicer than the DSG, it doesn’t have the manual-like hesitation or judder. Pulls cleanly away too.
But if Renault wants to move these, CKD, and less than 100k. No other way. I won’t pay more than say a Mazda 2 or high end Jazz V for a Clio. No amount of macarons will sway me of that choice.
CKD this and price it around 80-90k and we have a winner
hmm… but it seem like DSG perform faster than EDC.
Rather go for swift sport, RM97k [23k cheaper], 0-100 = 8.7s [1.2s faster].
i said in earlier thread,i rather buy a preve or suprima ,
value better, maintanance easier to find (service center and parts) and cheaper ,
performance doesnt worth the price paid
Mazda 3 also faster 0-100 at 8.8s. More practical and more space inside. Zoom zoom then?
What the hell is TC smoking?!
Lets recap: This car competes against the Fiesta Ecoboost and the standard 208, but is less comfortable. Maybe a bit more sporty. But they all look quite good, so that’s not really differentiating them. They are sold at a similar price in Europe.
This one is roughly 20-30k more expensive! Add another 20k, and you’ve got the significantly more powerful and more sporty 208 GTI.
Or from another angle… the Fluence is much more spacious, has more power, is much more comfortable, comes with good service too… and is cheaper.
Are they even trying? Who is it aiming at? What is wrong with Renault’s pricing? Usually Renault models are overpriced in Malaysia, then came the Fluence which is a bargain. Now we are back to overpriced? If they brought in the Captur at this price point, mh, maybe. Still a bit expensive. But the Clio makes no sense at all.
belum drive belum tau
1.2 l turbo but ad state 1.6 l engine?..
after adding in GST the price will be almost same as Peugeot 308.
