SPIED: Hyundai Grand Starex facelift with new looks

Hyundai H1 Face 2

The enormous 11-seater Hyundai Grand Starex (known as the H-1 or i800 in other markets) has been around for just about eight years now, and it’s finally getting a facelift soon – these pictures from our European spies show the van about to be put through its paces.

Judging by the heavy camouflage front and rear, the Starex looks set to receive a comprehensive refresh on either end, although from what we can see, it appears that it will at least retain its bulbous head- and tail lights. What we can see has been changed is a larger grille (slats instead of honeycomb mesh with chrome bar) as well as a slightly reprofiled lower air intake.

Also to be expected are some minor changes to the interior trim and switchgear as well as tweaks to the current range of powertrains, including a 2.4 litre Theta II petrol engine as well as a 2.5 litre CRDi turbodiesel (with VGT in our market).

It has to be noted that in other markets, the Starex has been unchanged since its introduction in 2007; the three Royale “facelifts” that we have received – in 2009, 2011 and 2014 – all appear to have been limited to our market.

Maybe Hyundai want to round it up to 10 years before new model release.

this comment appears on almost every forum…like a copy and paste statement. Kimchi cars can hold RV, if you search in carlies.my

I hope facelift will come with at least 11 Autoliv airbags (not from takata one like those thought RV only japs make). It’s huge cabin space alone can killed the occupants when they got thrown away inside it during accident.

Starex model life is 10 years, all-new model slated on 2017. Too long for a model because of lack of competition in this category, Mercedes Benz Viano/Vito and VW Multivan are the only other 2 that comes to mind for 10 and above passenger of this size van.
