Yesterday, the order books were opened for the facelifted Suzuki Swift; now, provisional specifications and indicative pricing have been released for the updated B-segment hatch.
With the advent of the refresh, there will now be a new entry-level variant available, called the GA. This pretty much takes over from the current GL, inheriting most of its bargain basement kit such as 15-inch steel wheels with plastic covers. One change is that the spare wheel has been swapped out for a tyre repair kit.
Step up to the GL and you’ll receive items previously reserved for the top GLX, such as the old 16-inch multi-spoke alloys and a higher-spec audio head unit, but keeps manual air-con and lacks the old car’s fog lights, wing mirror indicators, keyless entry and push-button start. Meanwhile, the GLX now gets new bumper-mounted LED daytime running lights, neat five-split-spoke wheels and a touchscreen navigation system.
With a new base model comes a lower entry price point, estimated at around RM59,000 for the GA, OTR without insurance. Contrary to what was previously reported, prices for the other two variants is expected stay about the same as before, at around RM65,000 for the GL and around RM73,000 for the GLX.
Under the bonnet, the 1.4 litre VVT four-cylinder petrol engine has been retained, pushing out 95 PS at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm at 4,000 rpm through a four-speed automatic transmission. Safety-wise, ABS with EBD and brake assist has been retained, but dual airbags appear to have been made standard throughout the range (the outgoing GL only has a driver’s airbag).
Changes are mild on the facelifted Swift, amounting only to a reprofiled front bumper, LED centre brake light and new seat fabric pattern. A new Lagoon Turquoise hue joins the colour palette that also includes Supreme Red, Olive Gray, Bayside Blue (only choice for the GA for the time being) and Superior White.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Suzuki is a low class car. Nobody buys it anymore. Sales are so bad. That is why they sold their soul to Proton. Both losers, hopefully something can work.
OTR about 65k, this is nothing but a junk. Better you pay RM45k and get a Myvi.
Well, you can’t make yourself look high class with cars.
Nobody buys Suzuki anymore. Only a few losers. In Malaysia, if you are low on cash its Perodua.
If a bit of cash, Toyota, Honda and Nissan
Rich, people buy BMW, Merc, Audi and Porsche.
Only real idiots buy cars like Daihatsu, Suzuki, Isuzu, Subaru etc.
Why idiotic has anything to do with buying a Subaru? Care to elaborate more rather than lashing out comments without facts?
boxer engine is underpower, also subaru never won anything in rallying competition all these years even lost to a ford fiesta? c’mon..
You want High Class Car…prepare more money.. at least RM268K to buy a very very High Class Car.
You can’t make yourself look high class with car.. if you got Myvi…
By which is also junk, better ride lori sampah
I agree..73k for highest spec Swift GLX and it only has dual airbags, better buy Iriz ( both junk car but at least Proton is cheaper and more equipped) ..Seriously, Suzuki has no unique selling point in Malaysia.
” Better you pay RM45k and get a Myvi” LOLOLOL..you sir make my day after our team thrashing by palestine last night.

Myvi salesman setected. 58.8k for a brand new suzuki swift is a steal… and even cheaper than lagi mahal lagi sorhai myvi extreme asking 62k or latest myvi 1.5 advanced (59k). It used to sell for 78k for first CBU batch.
GL only has one airbag? Again? And no ESC? This is 2015 not 2005! Our life is so cheap
This paking car cho expensive… Fuel consuming pucked up car… Choo…choo
Dear Writer, I don’t think you need to do a full essay for these kind of articles. Ninety percent of what was written could have been in a simple table form.
absolutely agree. write when there’s a real reason to write. otherwise, just put up a table. much more effective for readers.
I have a 9 yrs old CBU 1.5 Swift. It is a gem, attacks corner and very nimble. It has only dual airbags and only the usual ABS and EBD. Now is 2015, apart from new frame, there’s nothing really advances in the technology dept both comfort and safety. Keyless go and start, digital climate control, ESP, 6 airbags are already available 9 yrs ago for the same model I have, just that Suzuki Malaysia doesn’t bring in. Now still the same story, talk about consumer rights!
Suzuki shld attempt to do a Suzuki GTI version. It has a good chasis and handling to begin with. Can fly man
Well,they have one..the SSS. Comes with 6 airbags,ABS,EBD,BA,ESC,TC,HSA,tweaked and enhanced 1.6 M16A engine,stiffened shocks,bi-xenon headlamps,etc.Two options,6-speed Manual or CVT.
At least,it’s both performance and visual upgrades over the standard Swift. Unlike those racing wannabes, the Vios TRD and Almera Nismo.
Buy now and 6mths later rebadged as Proton Swift and lose money …. better wait and see what happens on the Proton Suzuki small car rebadged car.
Suzuki is as good as dead in Malaysia.
Facelift all you want and nobody wants to buy it.
Suzuki better stick to selling motorbikes
Atleast bring in other varieties like ertiga, swift sedan etc to compete…
Malaysians mentality, this car, junk! that car, junk! Sigh, grow up people.
