Nissan overtakes Toyota – top Asian brand in Europe

nissan-qashqai-2g-4

Nissan has surpassed Toyota in Europe in terms of total car sales for the first half of 2015. With a record sales of 384,726 vehicles sold in the first six months, Nissan, which was overtaken by Toyota in 1998, is currently back in the top spot as the best-selling Asian brand in Europe.

Figures show a 4.3% jump compared to sales in the first half of 2014. Nissan says that it owes this success to the growing sales in the last five years, made possible by the latest Nissan Qashqai and the electric-powered Nissan Leaf, which boosted sales volumes across Europe, particularly in the UK, Spain and Germany.

In Italy, the company has sold a total of 32,611 vehicles, which translates to a 23% increase in car sales. In France, meanwhile, Nissan recorded a 3.7% market share for the first half of 2015, which the company claims is its best on record.

The Qashqai, which is built in Europe, has seen a total 88,000 units delivered to customers in the UK alone, while the electric Nissan Leaf has seen a cumulative total of 184,000 units sold around the world. Additionally, In Russia, some 200,000 X-Trail SUVs have been produced, making Nissan’s St Petersburg plant the fastest growing factory in the country.

According to Guillaume Cartier, Senior vice president of sales and marketing at Nissan Europe, being customer-centric was crucial. “If I speak to a customer, does he care if I’m number one in terms of sales? No. But he cares if am customer-centric,” he told Automotive News Europe.

In the same interview, Cartier added, “I want to be the most desirable Asian brand in terms of product, service and the features we offer. We want to offer innovation and excitement, and we do with our crossovers, with the Leaf and we will do this in the future with autonomous driving features.”

Our CKD Toyota cannot export anywhere in the world. You know why? Because it fail each country quality standards.

Even made in Malaysia also still cannot export to neighbour country like Singapore cause it fail safety standards of Singapore. Singapore gets the CBU Camry which Europe gets. 10 airbags, VSC and a host of other safety features.

In Malaysia, CKD Toyota only can sell in Malaysia cause Malaysians accept any thrash thrown to them.

It can be exported to China,India,Australia,
          or others 3rd world countries
Same as Malaysia, they still not tighten their safety & quality standard in their own country yet.

Why Nissan is overtaking Toyota in Europe? Coz it is cheaper. Porsche sell much less than Nissan, it is worse than Nissan? Think again.

            Have you been in China?
China’s automotive industry is much more competitive! Price much more lower than Malaysia.
China’s Toyota got more bags, traction control, more accessories than Malaysia UMW Toyota.

Actually, Tan Chong Nissan is as guilty as UMW Toyota. Imagine paying between RM139k and RM161k for a brand spanking new Nissan X-trail here in Malaysia, and getting only 2 airbags.

And this is despite Toyota in Europe is so high spec. Minimum 10 airbags and VSC. Plus about 20 other safety features not even seen in our Malaysian Toyota. Examples are Typre pressure Monitoring system, lane change camera, reverse camera etc. These are NOT options. They are STANDARD in Europe and US.

Our Jamban made Toyota, is kosong. Pay RM150k for a Camry, got no VSC and Airbag.

n overseas, Toyota is highly respected. But in Malaysia, Toyota now has become a laughing stock. If you buy one, people secretly laugh at you thinking you are the dumbest person in town cause the Toyota is heavily stripped of its safety features. Now somemore, Picanto, comes with 6 airbags and can be safer than a Camry!

Malaysians already now know how Toyota has been cheating people. Until today, even RM150k Camry got no VSC and only 2 airbags. Paultan already wrote long article how vital VSC is 3 years ago and yet UMW don’t care a damn for our lives.

Global price of Camry with 10 airbags and VSC is US$22,000. Besides VSC and 10 airbags, the global Camry has about 20 other safety features that is NOT in our Camry. These features are standard and free on the global Camry.

UMW don’t care about your life. you die or vegetable, they don’t care, janji untung lebih. they take out safety features to save cost. Yet, they charge us 3x the global price of US$22k. We buy for RM180k a heavily stripped down car. Same with Altis. Same with Vios.

Worse still, it is CKD and Made in Malaysia. The price is even cheaper. If US Toyota is sold at US22k and still make a profit, you can bet that UMW will get this car at country distributor price of US15k. CKD it, it will be US$12k (about RM40k). But they sell to Malaysians for RM180k.

Camry Hybrid even better. US$26k. Come to Malaysia no tax. But sold for RM175k despite being CKD and stripped down heavily in safety features.

despite capable of making great cars like Silvia, skyline and also cars like Pulsar GTi-R, Nissan was on the verge of bankruptcy until Renault came to the rescue.

Kudos to Renault for having turned the table.

Nissan has a very good reputation in Europe. They make desirable cars like the Juke. On Malaysia they make cheap cars like the Almera and Lavina or cars with no market like the Sylphy. It seems that Nissan Malaysia don’t know who they are.

    • Nissan does not get Juke here because of some jokers who did not approve it’s arrival. It’s a threat. But if you are friend to them, even the lousy HRV can come in anytime.
