This Lexus RC F will set hearts alight, quite literally. In a collaboration with advertising agency M&C Saatchi, Lexus Australia has come up with another one of its attention-grabbing campaigns – a coupe that literally pulses according to your heartbeat, aptly named the “BPM.”
The RC F has been given a special electroluminescent paint that lights up upon receiving an electrical charge, prepared by US-based coating specialist LumiLor. The occupant sitting inside is connected to a heart rate monitor, which is then hooked up to a special electrical system placed in car.
It then captures your heartbeat, processes the data (instantaneously) and sends out an electric charge throughout the coupe’s body panels to activate the paint. As a result, the whole car lights up in, illuminating the exterior in a pulsing sequence.
Lexus Australia chief executive, Sean Hanley, explained that the pulsing RC F is a way to showcase and highlight Lexus’ performance segments. “The heartbeat car also links to another key part of our brand – high performance vehicles – via our F brand, and the emotional response a person gets from a machine like the RC F coupe,” he said.
Hanley also added, “this latest concept follows other innovative projects we have developed this year including smart outdoor advertising billboards that respond to the car you’re driving and our fantastic new Lexus Hoverboard”.
To the uninitiated, the Lexus RC F is a rival to the likes of the BMW M4. The two-door coupe is powered by a naturally-aspirated 5.0 litre V8 that makes 470 hp and 530 Nm, paired to an Aisin AA80E eight-speed automatic transmission. In Malaysia, one can be had for RM772k on-the-road, without insurance.
