The upcoming Hyundai ‘IP’ MPV could be receiving parts from the recently-unveiled Hyundai Creta, the Grand i10 and the Elite i20, according to a report on IndianAutosBlog. The new MPV will not share the same platform as the Creta however, but will instead be built on a different base that costs less. The MPV is slated to be launched in 2017.
It’s rumoured to be powered by either a 1.4 litre MPi petrol or CRDi engine – the same ones found in the Hyundai Verna. Larger 1.6 litre petrol and diesel variants might be introduced at a later stage.
Hyundai has been toying with the idea of a multi-purpose vehicle for quite some time now. We first saw it in the form of the Hyundai Hexa Space concept (pictured here) that made its debut at the 2012 Auto Expo in New Delhi. It sits on the ix20 platform, and is able to sit up to eight, passengers and driver included.
Similarly, Hyundai has also stated that it is working on a new mini SUV in the hopes of overtaking Maruti Suzuki, the country’s top auto maker at this present moment. The Korean brand plans on achieving this by entering into new segments that have promising outlooks.
The mini SUV will sit a segment below the new Hyundai Creta, with power probably derived from a 1.2 litre petrol that sits under the i20 Active and a 1.4 litre CRDi diesel, in accordance to India’s small car regulations. Will Hyundai be able to give Maruti Suzuki and Ford a hard time? Competition is stiffening, now that Datsun and Renault have joined the game.

Enough with ‘floatin’ roofline, it only looks better with range Rover.. elsewhere, it only looks stupid!
When one is trying to compare between a model but different generations he sounds stupid.
And trying to compare between 1.8 spec & 2.0, he make a completely fool of himself.
There is only 1 altis 1.8 2013 selling at 65k in mudah. That year toyota introduced the facelift version with dual vvti. The 65k one is pre facelift car. The rest are selling at between 75 to 80k since they are dual vvti spec.
There you go a lesson on tracking why and why every car depreciates differently.
This is clearly a Toyota Altis owner who is scared his RV is falling so much. Alldisc, jangan kelentong la bang
The sports version of the Hyundai Creta will be an homage to the cool retro Chrysler Barracuda.
It will be called the Creta ‘Cuda.
Toyota Vios now give RM6,000 rebates. RM500 downpayment, RM800 monthly repayment promotion.
Sales so much affected by Honda City until Toyota Thailand said the Vios facelift 2016 will get new CVT 6-speed gearbox. We shall wait and see….
Something like this (ie korean low cost Mpv) is the vehicle that is sorely lacking from the malaysian kia lineup. Since the demise of the naza citra and naza ria, there is no direct replacement for these in malaysia as their replacement model by kia has gone upmarket into Toyota wish/Toyota estima price ranges.
If it looks this good, and if hyundai malaysia brings this into malaysia, it would be a good alternative to avanza, alza, chery maxine and the likes.
