Honda BR-V – 1.8 litre engine, Jazz-like interior?

Honda BR-V 01

Some beans have reportedly been spilled regarding the upcoming Honda BR-V, according to Indonesian portal AutonetMagz – despite being based on the cheap-as-chips Mobilio MPV, the budget seven-seater SUV, set to be unveiled at the inaugural Gaikindo Indonesian International Auto Show 2015 next month, is likely to gain elements from its more upscale siblings, such as the HR-V‘s engine and a Jazz-like interior.

That engine would be the 1.8 litre i-VTEC four-cylinder petrol mill – in our HR-V it makes 142 PS and 172 Nm, mated to a CVT. Such a setup should be carried over, although we’d wager that a six-speed manual would also make its way to the BR-V, as equipped on the HR-V in Indonesia.

Also on the cards is said to be a dashboard similar in style to the Jazz – a good move, we’d imagine, given that AutonetMagz described the interior of the Mobilio (and the Brio on which it’s based) as being “low-quality and unsightly.”

The website adds that the BR-V would be a good contender to squeeze in between the ranks of Indonesia’s Low Multi-Purpose Vehicles (LMPV) such as the Mobilio and the Toyota Avanza, and larger MPVs such as the Toyota Innova and Nissan Grand Livina. Us, we think the new car will keep the Toyota Rush and Daihatsu Terios seven-seat twins honest. What say you?

Looks like another winner from Honda after HR-V. A nice-looking budget 7-seater SUV.

Sorry Toyota, you lost it again this time. Time to sack your Rush and Avanza designers.

End of the days, people prefer practical, reliable and cheap Innova rather than this BRV. Mark my words.

Cheap Innova, yes.. all ‘cheap’ material inside, but NEVER cheap price (even got money to buy cash also still won’t go for it, damn overpriced POS somemore too scary to corner even at low speed, high speed or some say 120 km/h cornering out of question for any MPV or tall vehicles)

    the power of dreams…
    the failure in execution…

honda’s sketches always paints a pretty picture until a ghastly production model rears its ugly head…

nontheless , a 7 seater HRV with rear aircond vents would be a very welcoming addition…

    only time will tell….

  • Good design.

Has been waiting for the 7 seater SUV from Honda.

This one will kill the dated Avanza and Rush.

As a rush owner noe and ex Honda City DSI owner, glad to see some competition from this segment of car with 7 seater layout.

i will get you if your 3rd row seat has more leg room as compared to Avanza/Rush.

Good work, Honda. Hope to own another honda again.

  • Honda has learned a lot from Toyota to use the same engine set up with different design of car to suit the buyer needs.

Toyota using the 1.5 VVTI for Vios, Avanza, Rush, Myvi, Alza to cater for all people needs.

Now honda has become smart to follow the toyota approach and kill them off with the innovative latest car design from them Jazz, City, HRV, BVR, Civic, Accord.(all with top sale)

Toyota is trying to catch up now but hardly can see any good design car from them.
