This then is form of the new Renault Koleos, a very different shape to the ones seen in earlier exterior and interior spyshot sets, which turned out in the end to be the Kadjar.
The French automaker says that the C-segment Kadjar is supposed to sit between the B-segment Captur (which is currently being previewed in KL ahead of its market debut sometime in Q4) and the Koleos, which means that the latter will continue on, but take things up a notch in size and scope.
Like the Kadjar, it’ll also sit on a Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-CD platform, but will be scoped much like the third-generation Nissan X-Trail, and is likely to feature third-row seating to make it a seven-seater.
It’s about time the Koleos is set for a replacement – the first-gen has been around since 2007 and has gone through two facelifts (the first in 2011, and then again in 2013) since its debut. The second facelift was introduced in Malaysia in March last year in its 2.5 litre engine variant form. The 2.0 and 2.5 litre powertrains that feature on the current car are expected to be carried over to the new Koleos.
