The 2016 Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM race car also made an early debut today, alongside the road-going C 63 Coupe Edition 1. It’ll contest the German touring car series from next season on.
It features styling cues from the latest Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe, obviously. The road car’s sleek and curvy looks appear slight at odds with the DTM car’s boxy aerodynamic addendums, it has to be said.
DTM regulations severely limit areas for development, so a majority of the new vehicle is shared with the current racer. The 2016 machine weighs 1,120 kg, and a naturally-aspirated 4.0 litre V8 engine with 490 PS and 500 Nm powers the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential gearbox.
