The 2016 Toyota Hilux has netted a five-star rating in the Latin NCAP test which it went through recently. The tested pick-up truck had three airbags – dual-front and driver’s knee.
Test results show that the Thai-manufactured dual cab truck scored a five-star rating for adult occupants with a score of 15.79 out of a possible 17. The safety body said that the driver and passenger heads were well protected and the driver and passenger knee areas did not show critical structures and offered good protection.
As for child occupants, the truck scored a four-star rating with 37.54 points out of 49. The report explains that while the Isofix seats could offer optimum protection for children under one and a half years’ old, the child seat for children over three years’ of age could not prevent excessive forward movements during impact.
For the body shell, the eighth-generation Hilux meets UN95 Side Impact test requirements and besides getting a “stable” rating, the body shell was commented as capable of withstanding further loading. ASEAN NCAP recently crash tested the Hilux’s classmate Mitsubishi Triton, which you can see and read about here.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
5 stars overseas but our CKD sure got no vsc and only 2 airbags. So probably 3 stars.
Than you UMW for giving us Moving Coffin
Asmat rather give 12 months Bonus to the Directors of UMW than give Malaysians VSC. Why spend more? When they can make mor money selling less safer Toyotas?
Ada aku kesah.
Toyota quality sells by itself.
11 months bonus.

Hyundai Grand i10 Scores ZERO (0) Star for Latin NCAP?
Latin NCAP:
http://www.latinncap.com/en/news/855ef01d376685/with-five-stars-for-adult-occupant-the-toyota-new-hilux-is-the-first-pick-up-tested-by-latin-ncap-while-hyundai-grand-i10-disappoints-with-zero-stars
Sampai sini this car jadi lower spec with higher price. U pay more for less.
Low or high spec also the risk of getting hijacked/stolen/lost is million times more greater than any other vehicles.
So far the strength of chassis is really good. Really hold strong. Much more rigid then the previous version. But this truck really need VSC & TCS. Because of the height & momentum, it is hard to keep control on slippery roads.
5 Star in Latin NCAP?? Latin NCap total got how many stars? 15?
Might as well go test with Timbaktu NCAP…
Anyway when are they going to introduce new fortuner? i’m waiting to book one.
So now Sam Loo will use LNCAP to justify that his Hailat is very safe.
Wait a minute, it should be read as LaNCAP to justify that Hailat is very safe. No wonder majority of those pick-up truck drivers in Malaysia (not only Hilux drivers) drive with their brain attached to their d*#khead.
That is truly hilarious! Sam Loo will be proud.
Latino has built-in airbags on their bodies… Malaysia adakah?
Latin + NCAP is what? LaNCAP?
I’m 7 years old kid here. What is LaNCAP?
This truck got the best RV and now you even get 5 stars worth of safety features!
Kimchi owners no need to worry, I will show you this 5 stars NCAP truck but please dont beg me for trading in your junk, I have too many of it now.
This truck got the best RV and the most easiest to get stolen or hijacked. Even with this 5 star safety rating, still owners need a lot of ‘Namo Amitabha’ mantra every day just to protect their hailat as stock alarm and immobilizer supplied by UMW Toyotaik is totally rubbish.
